Fishing Compliments
Attention seekers. You know them. I know them. The ones that come up to us, looking for praise and expecting us to contradict whatever they say because that's the right thing to do. : (
Example:
Girl A: Ugh, I look so ugly today! looks at you You look gorgeous though! ♥
What Girl B is supposed to say: No, no, you look way prettier than me! Don't worry, you look amazing!
So, how do you react to people who fish for compliments? And do YOU fish for compliments at times? Be honest~ P:

lkfjslkdjflksjd My sister does that constantly. She'll say she thinks she looks fat (When she only weighs like 110.) And I know her well enough to see that she just wants me to say "no your not." It got so fucking annoying that I just started telling her 'You know what, I think you're right. You do look fat."
If she ever develops an eating disorder, it'll probably be because of me.

I never really use strong words to describe people when they ask for compliments.
In that example I would most likely say like "there is nothing wrong with you." When it comes to compliments I'm pretty passive in terms of the language I use, it has come to a point at which people have stopped coming to me for comfort with things because sometimes I can't be fuck to be assuasive all the time.
When someone ask me "How do I look?" I'll just say you look fine, until of course you keep asking me then I'd start being brutally honest.
As for fishing compliments, I don't do it as often as I normally do. I use to sought after compliments on my academic skills (since they were the only things I was good at). But as time passed by I realised I don't need the comfort of other people's opinion on how smart I am, I know how smart I am. I won't stubbornly pretend to be able to do things I can't, I'll ask others for help or consult a reliable source. My friend says I fish compliments when I complain about eating too much, which I don't know how true it is but I only do it to make a mental note that I'll have to either do more exercise today or eat less tomorrow. Maybe subconsciously I was fishing for a compliment lol
Do not feed the trolls

You talking about me?
Though, my strategy is closer to:
"Man I look awesome today, like everyday.
You don't though."

Hmmmm, delicious narcissism. (funny word innit? narcissism)
On topic.
I'm not really one for social conventions, I don't like suger coating my words, but what I hate the most is when people ask a question but really only expect a specific answer.
That shit pisses me off. If you don't want my opinion, don't ask the question.
So if someone asks me a question to which they expect a certain answer, I tend to be as blunt as I can.

Then you have surrendered to the Devil
And must surely perish. - J.W. von Goethe
Depends on my mood, and the person. Rarely happens around me though 🤣

A bit of that, but mostly to troll the person.
If they get trolled, they just want to get compliments
themselves. 😎
Depends on my mood and the person. I mean, sure, I can see clearly that they're looking for compliments, but if they're depressed and need a confidence boost, I'm hardly going to be mean and make them feel even more shit, especially my friends.
However, when they start taking the piss and keep on doing it, then the sarcasm kicks in.
What I hate the most is those types who feel sorry for themselves all the time, and keep saying things like "I'm not good at anything. I fail at life". Get a hold of yourself for gods sake. I don't want to hear you moaning everytime I talk to you -__-
I don't like getting compliments like this myself. Means nothing if you're fishing for it.

I have an ex-best friend who was like that. And that's why she's now an ex.

I ignore it. Mostly. Sometimes I'll just say what they want and then go back to whatever I'm doing.. just to get it out of my hair.

I've indulge some, I've been honest, and I've been brutal. It all depends.
I think that everyone is guilty of fishing for compliments, one time or another, in their life. 🤣
