As title asked...

I've now read a manga and a manhua that have both used a word for a translation I've neither seen before or can find anything online about. Both translations come from Official Translations. Though admittedly the manhua official translation was pretty poor.

Said word is "Cochish"

The manga translation was "We'll hold these Cochish meetings until you feel all better then.

While if I remember correctly (I have horrible memory) the manhua just used the word to describe a woman. Something along the lines of "She's a Cochish woman"

If anyone has any clue what this word actually means I'd love to know. It drove me crazy when I read it in the manhua but I'm even more annoyed after seeing it again pop up in the manga I'm currently reading.

I think it's probably "coquette" (a woman who flirts) and/or "coquettish" (behaving in such a way as to suggest a playful sexual attraction; flirtatious)? Do those work in the context of the story?

It's not a word in English that I can think of. Is this the same company translating both works? It could be this particular translator and/or proof-reader just has some trouble with it (whatever 'it' is 😅).

I googled the manga in question and there is a box underneath that explains what Cochish is: "Committee for Cheering Ishihara-san up". So, the first letters of committee+cheering+ishihara, basically. https://imgur.com/a/6MaRupK

It would definitely work in context for the manhua.

I'd say there is 0 chance it's the some translator. The manhua is to put it nicely "very unprofessional".

As for the manga it could possibly work. Though the woman they are trying to cheer up is more the 'shy' type of character and the others are trying to help her get over the guy.

I more just found it fascinating that 2 different people would use the translation and there being 0 hits for the word when searching online.
