I read the rules and didn't really see anything against asking something like this so here goes:

I was wondering if the English translation of Skip Beat! is any good. I've heard horror stories about Viz (and other publishers) shameless censorship and editing so I was wondering if they've royally screwed this one as well?

I've finally come into a bit of cash and I've become so completely addicted that I really want to buy all the available volumes. (So far I've actually never bought any manga because of those aforementioned horror stories hangs head in shame and because I'm pretty new.) So anyways, are they good? Close to the original with nothing much censored or edited out? Should I go for it and start buying manga even if they've been horribly censored? (I am big fan of buying books and supporting the authors and plus I think it'd be way more satisfying to have the actual book in my hands.)

Yeah, you should or else we won't have anymore scanlations. I have all the volumes currently out (1-17) and I'm going to keep buying them. Unfortunately, yes, they are pretty censored.

To the point of changing Kyoko's insult (she gives Ren the middle finger) into a fist in book 4, which irritated me. But they sometimes add cuss words where in the scanlations there are none. For example, going from "Darn it!" to the actual word. But most of the time, it's changing the actually word to "Darn it" still that's about it. But in some books, censorship hardly exists (try Angel Sanctuary it's very good, it's 16+ I think)

Pay VERY close attention to the Ren and Kyoko scenes.
