Hello, all! This question is directed to anyone who has shopped online to buy from Kinokuniya.

I am finding, to my great distress, that none of the series I really want to buy are on YesAsia, which has been my best bet up until now because it has been amazingly cheap. I've been looking all over for better options, and I've stumbled upon Kinokuniya, which seems to have good prices. However, I don't want to fill in my information until I know what shipping prices are.

— So... U.S. buyers, do you have any idea how much the shipping usually is?
— Do they charge shipping per book (I'll be ordering raw manga) or as a whole?
— How fast/reliable is it?

They charge per book, it's 6$ per volume.
I have bought from them several times and was very happy with all aspects of their service!

Oops, forgot to mention, the shipping is very fast. When I bought from the LA store, the book arrived in Massachusetts 1 week later. When I bought from the NYC store, it showed up the next day!! It was incredible.

They do not charge shipping per book, but by the amount ordered (before sales tax). But you have to be careful to order from the SAME store, unless you are ordering OUT OF STOCK items and will use the order sheet to plug in all the ISBNs.

Any order between 0 - $19.99 ships for $6 UPS w/ tracking.

$20.00 - $39.99 will ship for $7 UPS
$40.00 - $59.99 for $8 UPS
$60.00 - $79.99 for $9 UPS
$80.00 - $99.99 for $10 UPS
and anything $100 and above ships free.

I live close by and used to work for Kinokuniya, and orders are processed same day to next business day. They'll email you with tracking too. I would say, they are just as reliable (but a lot faster) than YESASIA, and I order from them all the time.

However, they may not have all your items in stock, so you would have to use the order sheet for those items. Since you order raw, I'm sure you can navigate through the Japanese text, but if you need any help, feel free to pm me.

Also, just a quick head's up about YESASIA. Since you are comfortable with them, why not email the staff and ask to see if they could get the item (usually they'll stock it in HK and ship it to the US through that facility.) I've done this before, and have got them to update items on their site. All I needed was the title and ISBN. No harm in trying. 🙂
