Places I'll almost never be. Even if I was, I care far too little to worry about small talk. I'm also fairly sure the ones in my area wouldn't care about the topic so long as it remained civil.
so you can still have a civilized/intellectual conversation with a couple drinks in you? 'cause if you can, and with your mindset you should really think about becoming a politician or something. you can meet all types of people at a bar, lawyers, scientists, doctors, good examples of no bullsht type of people, but you never see a politician.

Since when?
I generally hate small talk. People always call me a quiet person but the fact is if all they are talking about is meaningless crap I'd rather just not get involved in the conversation until there is something of importance to discuss.
A Petaluma man showed his gal a trick
He took a needle full of cocaine and shot it in his prick
They say he got the gangrene the pain it wouldn't stop
And when he took a hot bath that night his pecker floated to the top

well...all those people i listed are the "elites" of the community with years of education under their belt and them having to pass a cot damn bar exam. In any case, most politicians are big business people, doctors, lawyers, or any of these elites before they work for the government. lets not forget Judges on any level are lawyers as well.

Do you have actual intellectual discussion when you have a conversation, be it in text or vocally, or do you usually speak of superficial matters?
It really depends who am I with...
I believe that words should not be wasted in vain, as speaking about stupid and unnecessary things...
So when I see there is no chanse of getting any normal convarsation/reply I simply nod with a smile...
But on the other hand, what can be considered supeficial to me may be a great discussion to someone else...
So, they can just discuss those among themselves. 🤣
The funnly thing is, I'm reffered to be a quite person, and often said to be timid. But what can I do if there aren't too many people who can be discussed with, really discuss...
As I said, I don't like being involved in usless conversations.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

First off, I don't drink, so all that is moot. And really, who the hell cares about how much education someone has or what they did to get where they are. I'm in complete agreement with what Personbot said. No substance, no talking.

Small talk is talking for the sake of talking.
It's like eating candy. You don't need it, but
it doesn't taste bad.
When I discuss, it might have something to do with
business, politics, industry or then it can be something
meaningless and irrelevant to the convo like squirrel soup.
I think small talk is challenging in certain degree, I mean to make it interesting.
What you call "intelectual" might be different according to the person, and even boring. Like people just stuck with their opinion or two guys heatedly trying to beat each other ideas onto the other.
If it's interesting I talk, if not, I don't, I care less if it's "intelectual" or not.

I prefer Intellectual Discussions as they feel more progressive. But it really depends who I'm with or what the topic is on. I can talk to one friend about politics, economical change, religious views or controversial topics. On the other hand, it probably be small talk with another friend where I'll just say something like 'I had an Apple Pie for breakfast' he replies, end of conversation. If a topic is on Political Issues then obviously it's an instant discussion. If a topic is on Mudkipz then one word/sentence usually suffice.

🤣 perfect example of small talk. But I guess you could get into a discussion about it lol. Next to nothing but the other meme like 'Do a Barrel Roll' or 'IT'S OVER 9000!' Which is littered everywhere on gamefaqs.

education's not important? we're talking about comparing substance that some average joe has to what graduate level people can bring to the table.

I have to disagree with the point you are trying to make.
While education is important, the amount of knowledge or wisdom one has is not necessarily indicated by the degrees one holds. I have not but a high school diploma, yet I can hold a conversation with a doctorate holder.

I find small talk can be fascinating and should not be dismissed so easily. Yes, if all you're talking about is Britney Spears' most recent meltdown, I could care less unless we went into the psychology of it and explored the topic a bit. Small talk is usually just the starter to oil the conversation and people just pick it up from there and the discussion can go in interesting directions. Discussion doesn't have to be brainy to contain interesting elements. I know some guys who have traveled to various parts of the world and I love to hear what they say about it.
Let's take Subway, the fast-food chain. It's there; it's good stuff and you go occasionally. Now, what about Subway in France? Or China? How do they operate? What are the differences? How does the culture in other countries affect the way the franchise goes about business? Are they successful and what did it take for them to be? Small talk brings out the little tid-bits in people that make you ask, perhaps useless questions to facts you can't use. However, it does add another facet to the human experience and by such, you grow just a little bit more.
So please don't dismiss small talk so easily.

i dont even remember how this got to where it is, all i no is that no bullsh1t kinda situations are boring as hell. if u know ur gonna argue(lack of better word sorry) with a person everytime u see them, then u'd avoid them more often. i can carry weight like any other joe but when u light up a spliff or had a couple shots that aint happenin and i aint even a party goer type of person.
Eventually ur gonna run outta sh1t to say(cuz honestly what's really that important anymore?) and then the room is dead quiet and everybody leaves and ur watching an episode of seinfield by urself in ur living room/mom's basement.
