There is one thing that I hate about mangas!!! In shoujo mangas especially!! I hate the fact that the characters have sex so easily! I mean really! They are ready to do it with anyone!!! Come on people, dont you realise that this message is bad for younger readers!! I mean i really like mangas and all but still i dont like how sex does not have a value anymore. I personally think that it should be done after marriage. Cuz people DO get Pregnant!!! >:-(

Haha, I get what you're saying. Usually, shoujo manga series have girls that give up their virginity out of love for the boyfriends, which is fine except for the fact that these characters are teenagers and their relationships seem to progress to the sex phase extremely quickly. I used to get a little annoyed by this stuff too, but I felt better when I remembered that manga is just entertainment. For anything that is sold to entertain, audiences like to see extremes. A thief in a knife fight is cooler than a 40 year old mom scrubbing a bathtub while nagging at her daughter for not cleaning around the house. That said, a fast-paced romance with sex can give shoujo fans a romance high while reading about a girl's fifty movie dates with a guy sounds like a drag. Of course, since audiences loves extremes, you'll also see manga where there is absolutely no sex. You really just have to find the right manga series and stick with those.

As for the "This message is bad for younger readers" part, yes, lots of sex scenes without consequences can be bad. However, I don't think manga is the only culprit. Movies with their random sex scenes is worse in my opinion, because they never seem to mention safe sex and movies are more mainstream than manga.

I personally believe in abstinence, but that's because I think it would be a pain to get accidentally knocked up. Now, even though I (again, personally) believe in abstinence, I understand that most people will have sex before marriage. I also understand the sex is designed to be pleasurable and that people enjoy sex. There are people who have sex because they do not know any better, there are people who have sex for fun and pleasure, and there are people who have sex because they are being taken advantage of. However, there ARE people who have sex to show their love to their partners. Just because the other ideas are popular in entertainment does not mean abstinence is dead in real life.

There are better ones like Midorikawa Yuki, Shimotsuki Kayoko. and even Sakisaka Io. Just to name a few, it's mostly a personal preference.

not all shoujo like your description. it depend on the genre, rate, and audience target.

anyway koolgurl5, if you hate manga don't read it.. if you only hate some certain manga, don't generalize all manga like that. You read 'smut' too much. Wait until you read guro and hentai :lol: or yaoi. There's still some good shoujo out there.

*and yes, the younger readers can be influenced but i think it's individuals' responsibility to read it or not. What will you do then if you saw 10 years old girl read a smutty manga?? Will you stop her?
