I was looking for a good artist mangaka.

  • romance
  • drama
  • usually deals with a series ( not oneshots )

Examples

  • Miki Aihara
  • Hot Gimmick, Honey Hunt, Tokyo B&G, etc.
  • Kayono
  • Royal Seventeen, Lovenista
  • Ai Yazawa
  • Nana, Paradise Kiss

Takada Rie - has a lot of high school/teenage romantic comedy series. They're all funny, fast-paced and just very enjoyable overall.

If you don't mind manga that's a little older, I'd suggest Hikawa Kyouko - she did the classic From Far Away, as well as a lesser-known manga that I like even more, Miriam, and a number of shorter but fun series.

Watase Yuu is another good bet. I found her classic Fushigi Yuugi impossible to get through, but Absolute Boyfriend wasn't too bad, Appare Jipangu!! is hilarious, and most of her shorter series/oneshots are really nice too.

Motomi Kyousuke- haven't heard of a shoujo fan who doesn't love this guy's stuff. It's just cute, highly, very highly addictive shoujo.

Those are the only artists I can think of that are really prolific, although there are many that have just two or three great reads. I tend to read everything by a particular mangaka when I like one thing that they've done, so I accumulate a lot of favourite artists. 🙂
