I was wondering who makes the best CGI-films between Pixar and DreamWorks, so i started looking in to it and by the time i was done i had spent over an hour doing so.

In the early half of the century it would have been Pixar hands down but Shrek by DreamWorks changed everything and also made DreamWorks a contender for the crown but ruined their chances with Shrek the third. Lets face it Pixar is more consistent but with old dogs (walt disney animation studio) learning new tricks and new blood (illumination) kicking the doors in, it's become apparent that the question cannot be answered as easily as before.

Does Pixar reign supreme or has DreamWorks finally taken the crown with diverse films like Megamind, kung fu panda and How To Train Your Dragon.

Studio - Biggest Franchise
Pixar - Toy Story
Dreamworks -Shrek
Blue Sky - Ice Age
illumination - Despicable Me
Sony - Smurfs and Arthur Christmas
Walt Disney - Tangled and Wreck-it-Ralph

did you know that the second largest film budget goes to tangled with 260 million behind dead mans chest, which is at 300 million.

Rank them only on computer animated films, basically early Disney films do not count only their 3D ones do.

Whats your favorite CGI film?
who makes the best films in general?
which studios movie are you more inclined to see?
could you please answer with a reason thank you.

Some of those haven't really done enough to warrant comparison to, well, the biggest name in CGI animation. But...

I like what Dreamworks is doing these days - they seem to be taking a lot more chances whereas Pixar is getting too stale and predictable. The Croods, Megamind and HTTYD were all absolutely fantastic and much better than the most recent Pixar flicks.

I like what Sony did with Hotel Transylvania too, even if it was a pretty watered-down version of the original concept.
