First: I've only read up to chapter 190 (end of volume 16).

Early on, when Kishimoto (Kei) was still alive... she said that her body doesn't have any of her scars... and then we see that there's another her living at her house (and Kurono even goes to visit her to see her face again). So I figured... okay... so Gantz makes clones of the people who die (and he somehow messed up and thought Kei died when she actually didn't and so he mistakenly made a clone of her).

However, doesn't Gantz transfer the actual bodies too? For example, when Kurono and Kato got hit by the train... their bodies disappeared. Or Reika's body would've been found if it wasn't transferred and her death would've been all over the news.

So why are there two Kei's? Is this explained later on? (If so, please don't spoil... yes or no is fine) Or did I miss something?

It's been bothering me.

Gantz just gets rid of the extra bodies, so it doesn't seem like dead people come back to life. But he's kind of lazy so sometimes he messes up and the real body survives. When he transports you the real body is probably analyzed then destroyed and he just makes a copy in the room.
