This week's poll was suggested by Nyxsha and deals with the ever-growing genre of transmigration. The poll specifically deals with being taken to a book world. How would you like your memory to be? (Or realistically, how good is your memory?) For myself, realistically, if it's the world of Wheel of Time, I'd remember a lot. It's just downhill from there...

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: How do you usually get around from place to place?
Choices:
Car, truck, etc. - votes: 1035 (44.6%)
Motorcycle - votes: 85 (3.7%)
Taxi, Uber, etc. - votes: 68 (2.9%)
Bus - votes: 301 (13%)
Train or subway - votes: 241 (10.4%)
Scooter or skateboard - votes: 13 (0.6%)
Biking - votes: 113 (4.9%)
Boat or submarine - votes: 11 (0.5%)
Aircraft - votes: 13 (0.6%)
Walking - votes: 370 (15.9%)
Snowmobile - votes: 11 (0.5%)
Horse or other animal - votes: 28 (1.2%)
Other - votes: 31 (1.3%)
There were 2320 total votes.
The poll ended: February 3rd, 2024 10:03am PST

Good to see that walking is the 2nd most often choice

Depending on what book it is and how recently I've read it I'll probably remember at least a vague outline of some of the larger events, but there are extremely good odds I won't remember anyone's names.

Physical descriptions are also iffy, they would have to stand out in my mind in some way. If it's just a normal looking person or something common like a black haired red eyed duke, I'll have no idea who they are.

You only remember a few events/names. More if I loved the book and read it less than 5 years ago.

Unfortunately I read too much so I can't remember everything, but I'm sure I'd remember a few events and names

Definitely depends on the book but... quite likely I either only remember few names/events or if it's one of the less unique ones or I'm far away from plot I won't even be able to tell it's a book world...
Please if I ever transmigrate, gimme the book as item, kthx.

I can remember the general plot/outline of the story, but names would be very iffy. I have good recognition abilities, but like i know I'm not going to recall anything way before the event.

I could see it now, I recognize the world and its impending doom, but I can't recall any of the people or objects needed to save my life.

I would remember some few events before I would remember names, but only after I had been there long enough to recognize something.
Due to the number of titles I read, and their similar plots, I would not know which one I was in until then.
And I would NOT be able to be a prophet, corner the market, and the like, as I am able to "forget" names, events, etc. when rereading until it's too late to act on my knowledge! 😢

Even the ones I love!

It would seriously depend on the book/s. There are a few where I would remember a lot of details (ex: Harry Potter). Most I would only remember main events and characters. Though I think you would remember more as you went through it.

Though more than that I'd remember most of the plot after a few days, but not the names. XD

I would love it if I remember every details, but honestly with the number of books I've read (including comics, if it's counted as book ), I think I'll only remember a few names and events. I wouldn't even be surprised if I don't remember anything. 😅

Honestly it depends on the book, some books I remember vividly, while other books I read less than 5 minutes ago I can't remember anything other than it was ok. I can also remember a really bad book, but my tolerance is a bit high so extremely terrible books are rare for me to find.

I'll probably remember the gist of the work, some important details, and only a few names here and there. That's just how my memory works. Considering all the stuff I've read (both fiction and nonfiction), how much I remember surprises me… as does my inability to remember things like names, ages, dates, tasks, and so on. When it comes to plots, in some cases, I remember no names whatsoever, yet still remember the basic plot and even some of the imagery used. Somewhat often, I need something to jog my memory, sure, but that's still remembering.

Whenever I took classes in history / art history and exams and the like required rote memorization, I'd have a hard time, but I still would remember the gist of it all — so the test would ask for the name of a specific law and its date and contents, and I'd only be able to answer the last part. My memory's odd like that; neither good nor bad, just strangely distributed.
