Can't I just want to be cute for my own self confidence, and not to please some guy? I appreciate my own beauty too ya know~

Some examples?

I refered to the guys part of his statement.

the guys around here are the best example
they're nice and all if you're their friend, but in regards to relationships they're horrible
they have bets on the next girl they'll play with
and they have this stupid rule,as soon as the girl starts to actually love the guy he'll dump her
and i know this guy who was dumped by the girl first,he went berserk because HE should be the one doing the dumping
so he made his friend date her, made her like him and then he suddenly dumped her infront of everyone
but not all of them are this bad,u just have to squint to find the good ones haha

Bleached hair, tons of make-up, super thin, goes out clubbing every night, loves to tan on the beach, shop and gossip during the day. This is what I meant by 'hot', because unfortunately it seems that this is the kind of woman most guys these days seem to go for.

I like those girls too. 🙂

I guess I'm one of those guys. Most of those "bimbos" have been fairly nice and sociable to me.

TBH, I like reading/hearing other people's thoughts, so I don't mind the mindless dribble. I don't even care if they are dumb-as-rocks. I like the feeling of being talked to and trusted with information. It's pleasant. (That doesn't mean that I would trust them with my own info, if they seem too gossipy. 😛 )

I don't mind shy/quiet girls either, it's just a different experience. I don't have a "kind of woman" I go for.

two of my closest female friends look like blonde airheads but are actually quite smart.

so it doesn't hurt to give the others a chance.

Sounds like something straight out of cliche teen romance/comedy/drama flix.

^The reason I don't read T rated novels.
Thanks 🙂
Edit - And my advice would be don't go for guys like that, though the choice is yours, of course 🙂

I am like this too. I quite like hearing gossip, even if I don't really care about it. But when somebody has nothing intelligent to say it gets a bit much.

why do guys feel the need to be strong ?

Most men are naturally competitive. It's the testosterone.

I don't know about others... but building strength has been an anti-depressant for me. Not only do the chemicals released during anaerobic exercises help, there's an element of self-actualization to it as well. Have you ever been stuck in a rut, not knowing if you were actually going anywhere in life? How have you improved yourself day-to-day or even week-to-week? It's hard to tell whether you've improved yourself intellectually and/or socially, but physical strength... Physical strength is very reliable, and offers a quantifiable measure of improvement. One week, you're lifting X pounds, the next week you're lifting X+5 pounds.

You cut out all the bull, all the guessing... and start working with tangible results. Real numbers. Hard facts.

Beauty, for women, is a lot more abstract, and I'd honestly be very surprised if women get an estrogen boost or equivalent from improving their looks the way men get a testosterone boost from anaerobic exercise. Of course, I'm open to being proven wrong on this. I haven't done much reading on this subject.

It's psychological. If I dress up I feel pretty, and people will regard me as pretty. When I am regarded as pretty, people interact with me quite different. It is good for my self image, my ego and my mood.

I've never regarded myself as pretty, and I don't try to be. I just go around in my jeans and tshirts, because honestly I'm very uncomfortable wearing anything else. I wear eyeliner and mascara, but that's about it as far as makeup goes- I feel normal with it on. I don't try to impress anyone. My hair is cut short because I think it looks better that way, but I'm constantly mistaken for a lesbian because of it. I've had guy friends tell me that I would be prettier and cuter with long hair, but I honestly don't care about their opinions. Pretty girls don't all have to have those same qualities- I find them boring.

I haven't. It seems to me that there are so many 'hot' women out there who are vapid and shallow and stupid, as opposed to women who are actually intelligent and caring.

Of course, I don't find said 'hot' women attractive, so I guess it is kind of true. My tastes are different than the majority of the population though.

wow i can't believe guys like you still exist D:
all the guys i know don't care about the inner beauty crap,as long as the face looks good all is fine
even worse some of them dont even care about the face,if they like the body they'll date the girl :l

There's an endless amount of guys in the world. I'm sure there are many around you who think like Turbophoenix

of course there are, but shes probably not interested in them because they are not "hot". because lets face it, despite what this threat might make you think, girls are at least! as shallow and focused on a guy's looks as men are...

'Cause the world is cruel.
It's important to me to be healthy, sanitary, and presentable. If you happen to look especially good while doing that, yay you. Some people like make-up, I don't, just slap on a thin coat of lip gloss and that gets 'er done. I would put on mascara but I'm scared to use it 'cause I don't know how to take it off, you can tell make-up is my best friend. 😉 I think it's funny how people use make up to make themselves look younger and really it speeds up the aging process. Eat antioxidants if you don't wanna get old...as fast.
I like to look nice with clothes, it's not for anybody, it's 'cause I love clothes and putting outfits together.

I don't know why girls feel the need to be pretty to the point where they stress about it. Girls are the most beautiful beings on earth - they don't need to do much to be "pretty" because they're already beautiful.

No one here is really knowledgeable to give a good answer to this question. You would need to a phd in psychology or anthropology or something. 😛

I used to not care about the way I looked until I realized looking presentable is one of the techniques one needs to survive in this world. Not to mention it boosted my self-confidence. I looked pretty, I felt pretty thus, strangers got a good image of me. Before, I thought it was just fine to look like a hobo and not care about my image. I didn't want to be one of THOSE girls that cared. But I grew up and realized that looking like a hobo won't make you feel good, won't let you meet anyone nice, and won't help you pass interviews for jobs =_=

Truthfully, It's what the media is cramming into the minds of typical women. It's social pressure breathing down their back that make women go to such extremes. It's also another way to comform and be accepted by others. Not only that, but a way to feel confident about one's self.

Personally, I don't wear make-up nor dress myself up unless it's for formal occassions, it's way too much effort to look nice and I prefer the natural look. Furthermore, dressing up also gets you a lot of unwanted attention (atleast unwanted for me). However, many other women crave that kind of attention and thus dress up to attract a certain group of men, and then go on to complain about how annoying the guy is, which is completely unfair to the guys, seeing how they cannot decypher between a pretty face and a pretty heart.
