Pain not only took Shizuna's soul, but also destroyed what looks like all of Konoha with just one move.

Cool chapter. Looks like Kishimoto isn't using the someone-arrives-at-the-last-minute scenario, since there's no longer anything to be saved. Naruto is free to go berserk with insignificant damage to his surroundings. Pity we don't get to see a 6 vs 1 battle of Pein vs. Naruto, but 1 vs. 1 will have to suffice. Looking forward to this battle.

Go read the Chapter again, It was said that move drains alot of his life span, so it wouldnt be used all the time, so when it's not gonna kill you, use your minions 🙂 .

Uhhhh.... I wonder if any main characters died from that attack. And just because it drains his life doesn't mean it isn't cheap as hell. And it didn't say how much of his life it drained anyways... It's not like he's gonna die anytime soon because of it I bet.

i wouldn't be so sure about that, from what it looks like there was a big summoning happening in Frog Village. so wouldn't be surprised if the villagers were brought there.

Daym!! that was unexpected. pain destroying the whole of konoha? deep. its very likely most of the villagers were summoned away... look at kishi geting all gantz on us. im sure saske is gonna be pissed off as a mofo, coming n finding the place wiped out.

I have a question...

How come the first thing Sakura did after crying was yell for Naruto to come back? Why didn't she start looking for survivors?

Actually, it's not unexpected from Pain since he is a twisted character.

There are still several questions remaining to be answered:

• Who does survive the blast/nuke by Pain;

1. Is Tsunade "fleeing" from the place or the opposite, she jumps towards Pain to try to stop Pain, which means she probably is blasted by Pain's nuke? If this is the case the chance of surviving is minimal;
2. If Tsunade died in the blast, nobody can tell Naruto about his parents, since those who have known his parents are dead, e.g. Jiraiya and the Third, Hiruzen Sarutobi etc.? Or there are still people who can tell Naruto about his parents?

It's actually kind of weird that (it's seems) the villagers of Konoha do not know that Naruto is the son of the Minato, the Third, who is the savior of Konoha of the last attack organized by Madara (used the Kyuubi to attack the ninja village Konoha)

Some of my findings after reading chapter 429:

• I think there are alot casualties and death after the nuke, since the hospital where Sakura is helping the wounded people also has collapsed because the blast; and a scene shows there are still people working in the village (like in a normal day);
• Tsunade thought she was clever since she charges chakra to her feet to clamp her to the ground so that she wouldn't have to afraid of Pain's secret technique of Pull and Push (like a magnet); but Pain knows more attacks, in this case the Shinra Tensei (the Nuke); some may say it's an overkill since he already knows where Naruto is located. Pain is a character who believes fear can rule over the people and as a terrorist (what Tsunade said) he doesn't need a reason to do such a thing. Also he may not want someone else to interfere when he is going to Naruto's place to get the Kyuubi;
• Since Konan said to Nagato not to use the Shinra Tensei (if it's not a great deal she wouldn't have said it, right?), it really means using that technique will decreasing Pain's lifespan; i.e. other words Nagato may look like an older person than he is, e.g. white/gray hair, underweight (still speculation, since fiction could be everything;
• Pain's Shinra Tensei has caused more damage to the Village than the last attack organized by Orochimaru; re-building the village would be very difficult, especially when the casualties under the villagers are huge.
• Also the casualties under the Konoha ninjas would be very high since they thought Pain was retreating, so the Konoha ninjas are unprepared for the unexpected Shinra Tensei nuke attack.

Wow, didn't believe it when someone told me, but he really did wipe out the village...
