Excuse me but can anyone of the administrators remove Dragens Øye https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=180895 from the site because its a graphic novel not a manga.

Correction there are too many Norwegian graphic novels from norway not manga

https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=180886
https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=180886
https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=180906
https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=180898

can someone get rid of them from the site and ban who ever post them in bakaupdate

I saw someone post about adding all these series to the database on the forums maybe a few weeks ago... No admins, much less anyone responded to this and I didn't actually expect any of their submissions to be let through, given the strict requirements for adding a series to the site. I wonder why any of these got added at all.

Edit: Found the original post- https://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=129893

It's neat that this person wants to bring attention to lesser-known comics in their country, but I have to agree that they don't belong on this site. I'm actually curious about all this now though and would love to hear admin's opinions on it. If OEL manga publications aren't allowed to be added, why were these blatantly non-manga foreign series accepted?

If OEL manga publications aren't allowed to be added

MU said "We do not allow OEL webcomics to be listed on this site" so I think as long as it has printed version it's allowed to be listed here??

strict requirements for adding a series to the site

Some series (webcomic) were filled with incorrect information/left blank (in some fields). I don't know if they intentionally did it so their submission could be approved 😶

I have no opinion on those Norwegian series.

I believe it can be added if it's marketed as manga etc, which is why oel tokyopop comics and oel seven seas comics have been able to be put in the data, as well as manga such as radiant which is a french original language publication but intended as manga. It says that webcomics are exempt so even if a oel webcomic creator says it's manga inspired or supposed to be a manga webcomic it shouldn't be added.

Yeah,Thats what I am asking the same thing .I see the person who is submitting the Norwegian graphic novels some aimed for children has to do this for a reason to get international attention but I don't think they would fit into the website,So I suggest he should submit them to reddit or some graphic novel recommendation site or his blog website.I think the administrations should get rid of them in the site and suggest whoever posted the Norwegian graphic novels in the site to post it somewhere else.

And besides Scott pilgrim is influenced from manga but is not added to the Bakaupdate site.

But The Norwegian graphic novels look western even though they are influenced from manga and they don't fit in to the format of the manga and in this site so I think its best they should be removed

I don't search or check those Norwegian series on their publisher site, and also can't distinguish graphic novel vs comics, so I don't have opinion about those.

But if those are comics and also available in Norwegian, either printed or digital, imo it could be listed here

Then we should add things like the "Winx", because they were heavily influenced by manga and anime in general...

But they are not manga, manwha, manhua, or a comic from one of the many other Asian nations. At most, the comics would be classified as OELs, which the site admins refused to continue adding years ago when everyone and their dog decided that they'd make their own webcomic that would "imitate" the art style seen in Japanese anime from the 90's.

If it does then add Scott pilgrim because it too is influenced from manga but I don't think it's a good idea because this site is still used for asian comics like manga and manhwa and Chinese comics only.

Well OEL is considered manga because it is read from right to left the Norwegian graphic novels in the site just read from left to right.

I have never seen an OEL that was pretentious enough to do that. Have a list of ones that tried to imitate manga to that extent of flipping the direction of reading.

Yeah no kidding ,the OEL manga try to imitate the original Japanese version but didnt at least they tried

Also, we need to talk to the administrators to delete the Norwegian graphic novels from the site since they are western
