Personality. Even initiallly unattractive people become more attractive if I like their personality. Nice looks are just a bonus.

Attractive women who are right XXXXXXXX are such a turn off. A gal who is kind, funny, smart even if she's not the most attractive girl in the world is so much more worth knowing and keeping in your life.

I have to go with personality, appearance will definitely get my attention, but I could never stand to go out with a person who isnt at least of above average intelligence, relatively politically knowledgeable, and actually kind of enjoys learning new things. And as much as those dont seem like personality aspects, and well they really arent, they are good indicators to me of a person who's personality at least isnt totally incompatible with mine. And well as far as specific traits go, I guess enthusiasm is needed too, at least in moderate amounts.

A combination of looks and personality. One might say that it's kind of inversely proportional. The better someone looks, the more personality flaws I'll overlook, and the better the personality, the more looks I'll overlook (By looks, I mean the face).
