The point of having succubus and incubus as separate tags is so people can find male or female versions of the tag. Merging them is a mistake imo. If there was another tag sex demons/esses I guess I could understand int he sense of trying to find a work with multiple regardless of gender but merging succubus/incubus reduces what people can search for.

The problem is that tag is used a lot in fantasy shoujo/Josei Manhwa which tend to be very similar. Having granular tags helps to be able to find a specific one when you can't remember the title.

Similar to how you want "succubus and incubus" to be kept separate. Using that example if MU only had 100 series total with a combination of all succubus/incubus then I would say merge. But if there are 600 and at least 100 where they don't overlap then I support keeping them apart.

I tend to suggest not combining tags if I can think of at least 100-300 examples where they are not the same or where it makes a big difference in the story flow.

This time it is more of a Square/Rectangle tag which is not as important to keep separate (I was adding support to another user not wanting them combined but is isn't critical to keep them separate)

Most of the tags I suggest not combining are:
- 2 different things with overlap (but the times they don't intersect often makes a significant difference in the story flow)
- 2 completely different things that people don't know how to use properly

Wait...how did my pointing out that "sex demon/ess" is a redundant tag come to discussions of merging Incubus/Succubus there was only one manga until this tag; I figured someone could see if said the "sex demon/ess" in this manga is an incubus or succubus and tag accordingly. And delete "sex demon/ess" tag.

I think the 2 author tags should be kept separate. There are multiple ways an author can enter their own work. Reincarnation, Transmigration, summoned. Also sometimes the author becomes a mob character that they didn't create (ex: random villager, they end up in a time after/before their plot etc.) Or they become their character without any form of isekai happening (ex: transform into their character in real life)

Author Transported to Own Creation is already there for non-reincarnation/non-transmigration which is why i suggested the author transmigrated and becomes own character tags to be merged. final call isn't ours in the end anyway so doesn't matter

Yeah, there are a lot of tags that just seem kind of unnecessarily repetitive. Like, surely we wouldn’t have gore without blood, so why have “gore” and then “blood and gore”? Might as well just be “blood and gore” for everything, or “blood and/or gore” if there really is some unique instance of gore with no blood.

Also ones like “Dishonest Protagonist”/“Dishonest Male Lead” etc. and “Lying Protagonist”/“Lying Male Lead” etc. If they lie so much that you would tag them as “Lying” then surely that qualifies as “Dishonest.”

Last thing: I think part of the problem is that when you edit categories for a work, the suggested tags that pop up when you start typing don’t include all the tags with that partial string in it (e.g. typing “Intercourse” will only show tags that start with “Intercourse” and not all tags that contain “Intercourse”). Of course, people can just go to the categories page to access full search capabilities, but obviously they’re not doing that and it’s resulting in duplicates. It seems like it’d be better all around to just implement the same search functions for the “Edit Categories” page for all works.

Hopefully this is the right place to request this but... I noticed that there is a category for Otome Isekai (link here). Would it be possible to add a category for BL Isekai as well? The genres are similar but distinct, and it would help immensely with discovering new series.
