Japanese police don't stop pursuing illegal manga/anime uploaders. Community Safety Administration Division and Consumer&Environment Protection Division of Gifu Prefectural Police, and Gifu Minami station announced that on November 7 they have arrested a 49-year-old office worker from Ibi District, Gifu, on suspicion of using Share file-sharing software to upload the 11th volume of "Sorano Otoshimono" manga published by Kadokawa Shoten and the second volume of "Kono S o, Miyo!" by Shogakukan to the internet without the permission from the copyright holders on June 17 this year.
The suspect admitted his guilt and testified to the police, "I wanted to raise people's awareness of those titles by uploading." Is there no other/better way for the purpose? What's your thought?

I'd take it a bit more seriously if it didn't have spelling errors and perhaps linked to the police report.
"I wanted to raise people's awareness of those titles by uploading."
Is not valid, not for sora no otoshimono as the series has had 2 anime seasons and a movie. with decent advertising campaigns.
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=47705 I suppose I've never heard of, nor would I had he never been arrested. since it doesn't have an anime series, and isn't in a super popular magazine he may have a case there. the mangaka may benifit from his actions if
- The series would have been cancelled due to low readership
- the series gets an anime series due to popularity
Afterwords we can go into WHY does he want to promote the series? Is he doing it to get hits on his website to fund his advertising, or is he doing it because he doesn't want the series to be cancelled or he wants it to get an anime?
these factors are important.
but no, not for Sora no Otoshimono.
