Watchmen Movie

Any thoughts on the upcoming movie that is set to be released in March 2009?
When I first heard of this, I was quite skeptical, consider that some adaptations don't work out and winds up bombing in theaters (especially if they're adapted from video games). >:-( . Also, I read the graphic novel before this was announced.
However, after watching some previews, I'll admit it looks good, but, I'll reserve my overall criticism of the Watchmen movie when it comes out.
See ya!

the look they went with is very good but I really dont think it can cover enough to do the watchmen justice in a 2 hour flick. Unless the movie is super lengthy it just wont get enough in.

It will please alot of fanboys, (die hard ones at least) but im skeptical of how it'll do with the general public. However I do like rorhasche 😀

To hell with the general public. Synder is a nerd himself, 300 was a great adaptation of Miller's comics, but because it had bucketloads of violence it appealer to a more broad audience.
As for Watchmen... it'll either be loved by the fans, or hated by the fans and loved by the Hot Topic crowd (shudders)
I'm looking forward to it myself...

It's probably going to go like this:
Fanboys: "OMG YOU DEVIATED FROM THE ORIGINAL TO APPEAL TO A LARGER AUDIENCE!!!"
General Populace: "Still a bit over our heads.."
I will be happy as long as they don't destroy the characters of Rorschach and The Comedian..

From the trailers, it looks like the movie is going to be faithful to the graphic novel. A lot of the scenes in the trailer are reenacted really accurately. I'm hoping that it'll have the psychological realism and that made the graphic novel awesome. Also, Rorschach looks pretty baddass.
And did anyone read the Watchmen MAD parody? It mad me laugh so freaking hard. In my opinion, it's one of their funniest parodies in years.

Like cano435 said, it probably won't be able to fit everything in the graphic novel in just 2 hours. But I REALLY hope it's at least near to it. Alan Moore's already been screwed over twice (League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen and V For Vendetta), and if Zack Snyder fucks this up, then I bet Moore will hate America forever.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I agree that League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was crap but let's not bag on V for Vendetta. It's one of my favorite movies of all time. I don't know if it was faithful to the original nor do I care - it was awesome as is.
And Madtv has a Watchmen parody? Going on youtube right now...
Edit: Couldn't find it on Youtube 😔

The movie was good I won't deny that. But the graphic novel is LEAGUES above it.
And I think that the Watchmen parody is in MAD Magazine , not on MADtv.

Agreed. While the V for Vendetta movie was nowhere near as great as the graphic novel, it's still a good movie in it's own right. Although I disliked the change in the heroine's personality.
And the MAD parody was in the magazine they gave away at the San Diego Comic-con, If you'd like, I can upload the scans for you.

Yeah, I wanted her to be like a whore in the graphic novel, not an upstanding assistant! :haha: Frank Miller would've gotten it right...
And if you can scan them, it would be awesome since I couldn't get to San Diego this year. 😢

Yeah, it'd be awesome if you could scan those pages in Mickey.
Also, I have a shameful confession; I have not watched or read V For Vendetta (yet).
Speaking of Moore; I think an animated D.R. & Quinch film would rock...

Here, I've uploaded the parody.
http://rapidshare.com/files/165246387/Botchmen-MAD_parody_of_Watchmen.cbr
It's in .cbr format and there's also a PDF in it. I just thought uploading it to rapidshare would be more convenient, since you don't have to individually save the pages. And some people prefer reading comics in cbr or PDF format.

You should, it's really good. Although it isn't quite as good as Watchmen.

Yeah, it sure would.
