interested in what other people likes

Poll
what kind of story progress are you interested in?
straightforward (protagonist reaches objective through sheer power/determination)
less straight forward (protagonist need to think through the environment/powers/potential/people to reach objective; no plot twists)
a bit of surprise here and there (few plot twists)
deceptive (when story goes well enough, the story makes a sudden U-turn at some parts)
Mind boggling (you dont know whats happening with the story eveything is only revealed at the end, which of course surprises you so much)

im just interested in what other people likes to read. im a manga avid reader. i dont do cosplay or post posters in my wall. manga interests me in its stories and character growth which other stories dont have (eg. american novels). i like manga that has one simple idea yet makes the story very complex (eg. death note; what if you have control over lives and when to end it?) which exposes core of human nature (greed, fear, hate, core animal instincts to be short)

this is my first post. thank you for sharing your thoughts

ps. im not online often

I am attracted to smart MC. MC that know what to do and use his brain, MC with wit.
doesn't have to be strong, but being being good at what he do is a plus.
recent favorite: no game no life (oh yes, mind game!)

also theme like different world, human->inhuman, creatures, action

Another type is slice of life like...
Corsettel no ryuujitsu (dragon mage babysitting 7 baby dragon, it's day by day story)
+Anima
silver spoon

I also like seinen, where the struggle and character growth is prominent

its good to make characters think of realistic unconventional/unorthodox resolutions to a situation. it makes the story better. more better if its something really unexpected

I like skilled and interesting protagonists. The plot isn't as important as the characters. That's why I'm really fond of Gintama. The characters are what makes the story interesting. The story wouldn't be as good if the protagonist was replaced with someone else, and I wouldn't be able to stand it no matter how good the story if the characters suck. I like manga with strong individuals that wouldn't throw in the towel when the going gets tough and stand up for their beliefs.

I like comedy, action, and mystery.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Also yaoi and hentai

I like composed characters but I also like hot-blooded characters. Dangerous is good too.
