MangaCat is a manga cataloguing application that organizes and catalogues your manga collection (Find more info here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mangacat/ ). Its like Winamp for your manga 🙂

Before officially releasing/publishing this software, it needs to be tested and quality approved. I’m looking for volunteers to help me in the following regard:

1. Test it to make sure that there are no bugs and is functionally sound.
2. Make suggestions/contribute thoughts to how the software can be tailored to Manga enthusiasts needs.

Interested parties need windows 7 + Java + Manga collection. Unfortunately MangaCat is not supported on Mac or Linux…yet. Drop a reply if you are interested.

Instructions for usage:

1. Download installer from here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mangacat/files/MangaCat/MangaCat%20Installers/

download the installer with the biggest version number

2. Install.

3. Copy over your Manga Files to some temp location. Under no circumstances let MangaCat near your original manga files. This is a safety precaution.

4. Navigate to your install folder and execute MangaCat.exe

5. When it asks you to add media to your manga library, point it to your temp Manga Library.

6. If you have suggestions, bugs, criticisms, drop me a reply in this thread. I'm also very keen to get scanlator input on how this software can benefit them, enforce scanlation recognition and appreciation, distrabute scanlated archives through this tool and auto tag scanlated archives so that when a scanlated manga archive travels through the web, it will have a scanlation tag built into the file to verify authenticity and ownership (a scanlation digital footprint so to speak).

I'd like to try it but how do I do to have it ? When I download from Sourceforge, I only got a "MangaCatTag" file, which does nothing... Is there a trick or something ?

The files/downlaods on sourceforge are for promotional purposes. Please don't download them...they have lots off bugs 😛

After I have a group of volunteers for testing, I'll make an official build available for testing. Sorry about the confusion 🙂 .

Just do me one favour! Don't try this software on your on your original manga library. Copy your manga library to some temp collection then point MangaCat at your temp manga collection folder.

This is very important because MangaCat actually changes your manga files at the byte level such that it might become unusable by other programs...
