I think the “Josei” tag should be added to the section “Genre” of the manga “Anna Komnene” because it’s a historical series with a special focus on all historical women at the court of the Komnenos dynasty, not only the protagonist, and it explores the condition of women in the Byzantine society of the time, including the worst aspects like domestic violence and marital rape, and how complex the relationships between people can be and how loved ones can grow distant and become enemies. Also, it show many tragedies common at the time like the deaths of babies and young children for illness, eunuchs and the violent persecution of anyone who’s seen as an heretic.
