Should I get into One Piece?

For over a year now I have been considering reading one piece. I saw the anime that was on cartoon network but I do not know if the manga would be worth the time, considering it has over 600 chapters. I'm thinking of skipping to the arc with the cloud people because that is where I left off in the anime. Or is there stuff before that I'd be missing out on? Thank you for your time 🙂

The thing about manga vs anime is you can speed read past the parts that don't catch your fancy, and slow down and really enjoy the good parts. Personally I love the one piece manga, and if you liked the anime I see no reason you wouldn't like the manga.

U do not skip the cloud arc, ever, period, no way, not happening, and yes you should, its a crime against humanity to not read the manga after seeing the anime! And just because its 600 chapters shouldnt put you off, the sacrifices you make is not much for unlimited amount of pleasure 🙂 its shorter than the anime for sure though 😛

Honestly, I haven't been reading the manga series. I probably read to the Arlong arc and decided to stop reading and continue watching instead. I've heard that the manga is just as good as the anime and I believe it; the anime and the manga follows each other very closely, story and action-wise, and I just love the enthusiasm and the extremely emotional moments One Piece has.
I recommend you doing both if you want to. But because they are so close, I choose to only watch the anime. 🙂

Definitely. More than the anime anyway. I stopped watching anime for long manga because of fillers.

If you've seen anime up till Skypia arc, then yes, in theory, you can start the manga from the next arc, but I'm pretty sure that you'll end up reading all of the chapters at some point, anyways.
As to the differences between manga and anime, it's hard to pinpoint them all, from the top of my head, but they do happen. One of them is how Zeff lost his leg.
Generally, manga is just better than anime is, especially since they started doing slow-paced episodes (1ep=1ch), to get rid of fillers.
You can PM me if you need a temporary (freelance) cleaner/redrawer for some project. Especially if it's something with nice art.
Being the lazy person that I am, I'm not likely to accept anything long-term though.

The large chapter number might be intimidating, but One Piece is one of those mangas where it's better to read in bulk anyway.

Its the only thing that would ever make me cry over a boat. Every time I read that chapter. Every damn time.
