Next year's February issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine revealed on Saturday that Katsura Hoshino's D.Gray-man manga will resume in the winter 2017 issue of Jump Square Crown magazine on January 20, after taking a brief hiatus in October's autumn issue. The autumn issue didn't state at the time if Hoshino would resume the manga in the winter issue.

Really good news, because DGM missed the last issue of Crown.

Yes, same author.
The story changed a little because of her hiatus (health recovery) and the release schedule. Plus, she's no longer bound by Shounen Jump and JumpSQ's rules. SQ.Crown was practically a mangazine tailored for her, plus, any fresh new mangakas.
Some of us had the pleasure of seeing conceptual drawings (or early drawings) of what to come in the future. So, it's only going to go more in that direction. ^__^;

Of course. A lot of people still care about this series. It beats out a lot of various shounen manga to boot. It only feels oddish, because it went from a weekly -> monthly -> tri-monthly release schedule. Some people need to just re-read from the beginning. The whole story went less shounen and more seinen. It's a very interesting transition.
You guys really have to consider that Hoshino-sensei is a human being, who hasn't given up doing what she loves when she's healthy.

Fair enough.
It won't rekindle my interest in the manga but I wish the mangaka luck.

I thought this was cancelled permanently last 2012, the story back then as I remembered was getting very bleak.

Awesome news!!! I never got far into D.Gray-Man because I was worried that it was going to be scrapped permanently, but I loved what I read & look forward to reading the rest. 🙂

How lazy do you have to be to go on hiatus for an manga that's it even monthly ? Female. Mangaka are really frail.

From what I heard, the mangaka had tendonitis in her hand. She isn't just lazy, she had serious health issues.

The author is sick from something in her hand. I think we will only get a chapter once every 6 months. That's how it's been lately sadly 🙁 plus, I think her publishing company dropped D. Gray Man from the lack of updates
Currently getting my life together~ (unsuccessfully)
