So as the title says, what books and movies would you love to see as a manga or anime? I was reading this book the other day called The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake and I thought it would make a wonderful slice of life kind of manga. I also think the movie Constantine would be awesome as an anime, with the story stretched out a bit 🙂
I definitely second Constantine. It's wicked~
Hmmm, maybe What's Eating Gilbert Grape? would be nice. (i support JohnnyxLeo ) 😀 It'd be seinen and slice of life too.
And maybe the Alex Delaware series? I love reading 'em, but the newer books are not that great anymore. I prefer the earlier one, like When the Bough Breaks and Silent Partner, and Bad Love.

The Jason Bourne series
Dragnet (1987 film)
Get Shorty/Be Cool
The One
War
The Expendables
Minority Report
Jerry Maguire
V for Vendetta
Anything with Liam Neeson in it
There is a simple solution to every problem; finding the simple solution is the difficult problem.

just one little thing here
Constantine is a rather bad adaptation of the Hellblazer comic book from DC
not animated and probably never will be
but you have a 270+chapters/issues still ongoing comic to read
and there are animated addaptations and comics for alot of the series you are suggesting
and to the person suggesting v for vendetta...i hope to god you mean the comic book and not the horrible movie adaptation
just bcoz its animated/drawn in japan does not automatically make it worth watching
V for Vendetta and Hellblazer along with Watchmen and a couple more western made comics are about as good as it gets...why would you Moe,ecchi, teen angst them to hell by making japanese adaptations of them

Tokyo Story. It's a Japanese film from the 50s. Beautifully sad story that could really work as a manga, and would help bring a fantastic story to a wider audience.
Also, the book Starship Troopers. I think a manga would be a good place to start in illustrating Heinlein's (rather extreme) political philosophy in a serious manner, rather than having to overly satirize it like they did in the film adaptation. A manga adaption could also greatly expand the characters and setting, and add a much-needed human element that was missing in both the novel and the film.

Actually there already is a comic book version of Starship troopers, but I disagree on the film. I think the first movie although reworked to appeal to mass media, did a pretty good job of conveying the Starship trooper book's message. I agree that the satire in the film maybe masked the philosophical undertone, but it was still there.
Although, the sequel films were just garbage.

Neuromancer done by someone with a humble but detailed art-style, Nihei Tsutomu would be too easy so I'll pick Matsumoto Jiro. Jiro doing A Scanner Darkley would be awesome too.
Blood Meridian done by either Nishioka Kyoudai, Matsumoto Taiyou or any other manga artist with an atypical art-style.
The Great Gatsby done by Hiramoto Akira.
