For those who aren't aware Seikimatatsu Leader Den Takeshi was the first manga by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro (the mangaka who does Toriko) and it was a gag manga/battle shonen parody and was incredibly popular during it's serialization and was consistently in the top 5 of the Jump TOC rankings. Sadly though the series was suddenly cancelled in light of a massive scandal that was brought to light of Shimabukuro being revealed as a frequenter of child prostitutes which caused quite a commotion in Japan. In fact once he got out of jail Jump wanted nothing to do with him yet Eiichiro Oda was able to convince Jump to give him another chance and let him start up Toriko.
