I was part of Tech/Crew during our school's musical last year: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!
I loved some of the songs, but after those many shows, I'm kinda terrified of bible stories turned musical...(Great show though!)
Don't forget big names like Les Mis!

The last one I saw was Young Frankenstein, so I think that's my favorite right now.

DANG SO HARD TO CHOOSE. >.<
I like Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, and The Producers.
Unfortunately I haven't watched Wicked yet, BUT I KNOW ALL THE SONGS! >: o
The Producers is soooo funny I think I shitted myself a few times watching it :3
I really need to watch some more. D:
Favourite play I've ever been to?
We Will Rock You
I can remember it as if it was yesterday. I can't remember how long ago it was when I saw it though. Probably like, 5 years ago or something.
Wicked was another awesome play I remember seeing.
I haven't been to the theatre for ages. I need to go again.

Ooh... This is hard! I can't pick just one.
Popular ones include:
Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis,The Rocky Horror Show, Cats (mostly for the jazz dancing), Sweeney Todd, Beauty and the Beast, Fiddler on the Roof, The Nightmare Before Christmas, An American in Paris, Carousel, Hedwig and the Angry Itch, A Broadway Melody...
Musical movies with Gene Kelly in them.
It goes on and on and becomes steadily more obscure.
I am sure there are many well-loved titles missing from this list 😮
But when I have the chance/money I would rather watch a ballet or opera instead of a musical.
Question: Has anyone here been in a musical production before?

I haven't, but:
-My sister was & I went to a LOT of rehearsals with her.
-My mom did props for a couple so I got to see a lot of the backstage process.
All local community theater productions, nothing big/famous, but good shows all the same.
I can't pick a favorite musical, I've seen too many! Gilbert & Sullivan have got to be near the top of the list, esp. Princess Ida & Ruddigore; I grew up listening to (and later seeing) Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Kiss Me Kate, Wonderful Town, and many others.

Yeah, a small scale one. The city opera company came to my elementary school and had auditions for Hansel and Gretel. For about 2-3 months we rehearsed during PE and then did the performance twice, once for the students then again for parents. I was an angel. :3 While it seems like the kids did not do anything, they actually were trained to do quite a bit. Students in stage crew did the backstage stuff and stage background creation, while some other students applied the makeup to the actors by themselves. The opera people taught us the songs, acting, and provided props/costumes. Once the play happened they only needed to play the piano for us. 😀

I loved Grease, but Phantom Of The Opera was nice too - I only know about/have seen the most popular ones though ...
