Luffy would die if he ate another Devil Fruit. It was explained back in the CP9 arc that if someone ate two Devil Fruit, their body would explode and be reduced to nothing.

it could be that dr. vegapunk is developing a synthetic DF that won't kill you if you eat it and are already a DF user. imagination ftw.

Thinking that Luffy is going to eat 2 devil fruits is underestimating Oda, imho. Luffy has done fine so far with gomu gomu abilities, and who knows what other techniques he can pull off. I mean, did anyone honestly expect gears 2 and 3? Also, think of the characters such as Shanks, Zoro and Hawkeye that have no devil fruit ability yet still kick ass. Oda'll come up with something special for Luffy. Either way, the obvious thing right now is to learn how to control and use haki, either from hancock, jimbei, the whitebeard pirates, or even garp.

mmm Blackbeard's DF is definitely HAX, so I think that only strategy will work against him, not a DF vs DF battle. Unless Oda pulls some neat DF that counters perfectly Blackbeard's, but im really not sure about that.

I see BB ending betrayed more likely than finished by an opponent.

Blackbeard definitely is one of the kind..

i think his crews (like shiryuu) will gladly steal an opportunity to take him down anytime he's unguarded.

I imagine he's overpowered by his own ability.

Gloves with kairoseki knuckles would probably do the trick.

Itd take someone who is used to fighting without DF powers to take BB out. Most DF users are to dependent on their powers.

That would make sense, but it seems obvious that the one to fight Blackbeard would be Luffy, and he's not exactly the type of guy who would use strategy over good old brute force. Also, Bleackbeard's yami yami no mi isn't all-powerful. I could be wrong, but it seems that he can only negate a devil fruit ability if he's in contact with them and he can't avoid damage by transforming into his element, so Luffy can take him on, maybe even without mastering haki. He was able to land a Gear 2 jet punch in his fight against him at Impel Down, so it's not that hard to imagine him landing more punches.

There are plenty of people outside of Luffy who I see that might fight BB. BB's shichibukai's status might be in jeopardy after letting those level 6 guys out of Impel Down, so for all we know the admirals themselves or another shichibukai (Kuma comes to mind) to take him on. Whitebeard is still alive (and pissed off), so he might take him on personally. And there's always Shanks, who might have a personal vendetta for the scars.
