This week's poll comes from the mind of our member whatnot (what what?). The question is a little long-winded, but oh well. And as usual, I dislike the "I don't care" option, so that's not included.
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):

Previous Poll Results:
Question: In a romance series, you cheer for...
Choices:
The main couple (main characters) - votes: 5435 (43.6%)
The love rival - votes: 1602 (12.9%)
A side couple (side characters) - votes: 1529 (12.3%)
Your own imaginary couple that you wish would happen - votes: 3895 (31.3%)
There were 12461 total votes.
The poll ended: July 7th 2012
Of course the main couple would win. That's why they're the main! But lots of people still want their own imaginary couple... Too bad it's all imagination, eh? I guess that's why doujinshi exist.

I choose to read the prequel first. Actually it's better if I read from the one who released first.
For example, reading Fate/Zero first will spoil a lot of stuffs from Fate/Stay Night HF route.

I guess its normal to read prequrls first in order to understand the characters and plot....... Ofcourse there might be series where itsnt required but then they would be called spin-offs or side stories where plot isnt really connected that much.

The option, read in order that it's released is missing. If the prequel comes out 5 to 10 years later, it's obvious you read the sequel first (you don't know that it might come in existence. 😮

Didn't even think of that... Too late now ><

I answered first prequel, then sequel. But it depends really. I like to read them in they way they are published. If a mangaka decides to first writes the sequel, and afterwards makes the prequel, I'll read it that way. Even when it it is a series from X years ago. Per example: I still would read the sequel from 2001, and then read the prequel from 2005!

It depens for me. I only read the what I'm interested in. And most of the times I don't read both.

Another example would be Papa no Iu Koto o Kikinasai! where several spin-offs sometimes get ahead of the main story.
But if a series has it's main release and then produces a sequel under normal circumstances, I would read it in order.

I'll read whichever catches my interest. Usually I start from the story that takes place farthest in the past in the storyline and work my way up to the present. Let's say the prequel is a different set of main characters with the sequel's main characters in supporting roles, I may read the sequel first and if I like it enough go back to the prequel. I'll also just start reading randomly in a storyline at a chapter picked by chance. Sometimes it's fun to try and figure out what happened and then go back and see if you were right.

the question is a bit misleading isn't it. I don't know how most people use the term "Prequel", but to me it means something that happened before the beginning. As a recent example take Watchmen the comic. It came out and told the story of how a psychic Nazi squid destroyed New York. Now, recently there has been some new Watchmen comics that happened before the first one came out. that is to say it's about the original Watchmen. Yet that alone doesn't make the original a sequel. Or another example, and only an example. Don't argue the validity of what I'm going to type, please, but an example of a prequel would be the story of what there was before God created everything. And the story is creation. The sequel would be after, whatever that is.
Any way, that being said. I'd read what ever came out first. Which is usually whatever is by this polls reasoning the "sequel".
