I'm not specifically looking for weak male leads but instead looking for male leads that care for the female lead and love her without trying to control her or going alpha on her. I would also like it if the female lead didn't need to be constantly saved by him and he didn't always butt into her life.

Some examples:
Beast Master
Monkey High! (female lead has her own life)
Kawaii Hito (the female lead here is very lovable)
My Hero!

Also:
Kimi ni Todoke (although he does sometimes pull her around)
Gokusen (he butts in to much but its okay cause she butts in too)

Um the only one I can think of is Machida-kun no Sekai but he like.. cares for everyone, so... 😕

Mizutama Honey Boy for sure and maybe 3D Kanojo or Seishun Away.

Also it technically fits as she also saved him as he saved her (and the guy is not an apha type- more princely): 2.5 Jigen Kareshi.

Akagami no Shirayukihime definitely no alpha crap and even thou she does needs saving once or twice, it's only cuz the situation is way over her depth, but even so - she still stood her ground so no damsel in distress here 😉

I think Last Game might qualify. He's supposed to be the rich, arrogant and possessive type, but by the time the main story kicks in, he's mellowed down a lot and, while struggling. he knows not to cross lines, even when rivals are involved.

I think Otomen and Aoharu x Kikanjuu fit well with the type of romance you're looking for. The male leads in those ones care for the heroine and are not pushy, they don't go alpha in the typical way you find in shoujos (they're not Mary Sue's princes lol).

I know its weird but I consider the lead of Mizutama Honey Boy alpha because of things like when she asked him to help him get her hair out of her dress and he started unzipping her dress and told her he is a man. I feel like... ok you are a man... so what... help her with her dress
