Now, there were seven stories to Shuuseki Kairo no Himawari, and they each had a meaning, some were difficult to determine, others just gave you the impression of 'WTF O_O' or something like that. Unfortunately, I was really only able to grasp a couple of them.
Story 4: The Other Side of the Rose Wire
The entire story was about Yusa trying to figure out what was inside her box, and eventually finding out. When asked what it was, he doesn't say, but the reader can infer that what he found out wasn't a material item, but a metaphorical feeling. Yusa thought that the contents of the box were innocent and plain, but still mysterious, much like her personality, from what he thought at least. When he found out that her father died and saw the contents of the box, he saw her smiling, not necessarily happy, but maybe more relieved, much like Elie was in the novel Night. After realizing she wasn't this innocent person, and was much like every other person in the world, she became less special and he lost interest in her.
