i dont get why some parents are over reacting about things. i learned a few months ago that sesame street changed the cookie monster to the " veggie monster ". what kind of lame ass name is that? what happened to " c is for cookie, thats good enough for me"? apperently it was because it " encouraged" kids to eat cookies. god, thats just stupid. theyre kids, if they dont eat cookies they must be crazy. yup, thats perfect. blame child obiecety on the cookie monster. it wasnt saposed to teach them anything. just that cookies are delicious. any parent out there, please explain why the cookie monster is a bad influence...

This isn't true. It was only a rumor spread by the internet (source = 4chan). In reply to parents' concerns, the creators of Sesame Street had the Cookie Monster say, "Cookies are only a sometimes food," or something around those lines.

Haha yeah I'd never heard that. Silly 4-Chaners. Seriously though, parents just want to make a scapegoat out of child media for their own lack of proper teachings of nutrition and a healthy diet. When they're teens that's different, it's their choice what they eat and how much they eat.
/rant over, sorry 😛

Seriously...it's not like kids watching sesame street are doing their own shopping. If your kids are eating too many cookies...stop buying them cookies

This made me laugh... just because it's so obvious, but so many parents fail to grasp the concept.

it´s like "if you eat so much ice cream you´ll become fat" - "then why did you buy it?"
I really like the cookie monster and removing him would just be stupid. If they want the children to be healthy, they should advertise vegetable juice

Parents often don't want to blame themselves for their bad parenting, but since they are held responsible, they most naturally passes the blame elsewhere. It's way too hypocritical.

Since it's not true, we have no need for this thread.

And rants are not allowed anyway.
