The Way They Treat Manga

Some of you might have noticed by the way some scanlators treat the genitalia parts, either man or woman...the smudging of the art, the blurring of the image, and even, placing a black type around that part. There is no point of making such manga (seinen, hentai or ecchi) if those parts were being hidden in public.
In my opinion, it humiliates and mocks the masterpiece made by the mangaka himself/herself, as well as, ruining the genre ideally for mature readers. >:-(
How about you? What are your insights about such act... 😮

Yeah I think there is a legal reason they do that in Japan. Like it is against the law to show those parts. So I wouldn't blame the scanlators if I were you, cuz you might piss some people off.

You have a point in there...they have a law that forbids them to show those parts, however: Futari Ecchi, which is indeed a hentai, could also be part of that list.
Seinen types seldom display such "art" and it's one way of addressing the readers that the content is ideally for adults. If such legalities are present in such place, then bloody gore should be part as well due to the violence being portrayed.

I see your point as well. Being that I am American, I can identify with the idea of censoring sex and not bloody violence. But what are you gonna do? The law is the law over there and you can't do anything about it. I know there are groups out there who spend a lot of time removing pixelation and censor bars. We should be thanking them instead of blaming other groups for things out of their control

I don't get it...they should have set such criteria on the first place. If such abiding law exists, then they should have leave no exceptions, however, Futari Ecchi, which isn't ecchi but hentai, is still ongoing and being read by millions of readers out there.
Seinen, which seldom shows sex scenes, don't add in the list of being in a hentai category. Berserk, for an example, shows a bit more on blood thirsty violence but seldom portray sex scenes, but still some have to edit those "parts".

First of all, where do you get the odd idea that the scanlators are the ones that censor the manga? If something, they sometimes uncensor it and re-draw the images. So, before you go blaming the wonderful people who bring us manga in English you should at least do some research and read the Japanese Censorship Laws for God's sake!

I'm sorry to say this but I sincerely think that you have no idea about what you're talking about.

Hmm...of course, I'm not stereotyping all the scanlators out there. Also, I know about their censorship laws but the thing that I don't get it is that some seinen series, even though they portray minor nudity, should never be part of the law as well.

Okay, I admit. It's not that hentai but what makes it much more obscene is that they have to show those parts in the public.

Because the law forbids the depiction of the genital area, not nudity. In Japan, nudity is not taboo like it is in the west (That's why is not uncommon to find it even in kodomo or shounen mangas, like dragon ball).

In my opinion it's incorrect to judge Japanese customs following the Western standards of morality and political correctiveness (Our culture is just too different).

I think they should leave those parts alone...
Like come on, are we going to be scarred by seeing that?
If it's a hentai it's even more absurd, if you show everything else, and you see what they are doing, what's the point?...
Maybe to ruin someone else's fun 🤣
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Well thats the way with the Japanese and porn, throughout the Edo period (1603.-1867) there was more freedom and I mean lots more, so to take it down a notch the japanese government forbade showing of all genitals without a mosaic and some other stuff

We shouldn't treat manga according to some tradition. Manga is born when Japan was in the period of losing it's own culture while westernizing. I don't really care if they do it or not, as long as it has the correct age rating.

But some manga that I bought here that were imported from the U.S. really have dumb age ratings, Suzuka and love hina both have 18+, even though love hina doesnt show nipples
