Gatt's Sword:

I've always wondered about Gatts sword, the Dragon-slayer, and how it would progress throughout the series. "It's power has been forged through the curses of its thousands of victims," and now Gatt's is about to slay a Sea God. Do you think the power will continue to increase, whether it be in supernatural power or deadliness to the apostles, or possibly remain the same? There is also a chance that a great mage from Elfheim will bless Gatt's sword with a divine element's protection. None of the main characters currently possess the water or earth element.

- Volume 24, page 133 and volume 25, page 35 are when Schierke notices something about Gatts' weapon.
- Volume 32, page 16 is when Gatts strikes Emperor Ganishka in his mist form.

that is a good question to consider, it's seems that it'll just keep growing in that aspect though. from the way i look at it, it's a piece of a puzzle for Guts linking him to that beast in his subconscious. and i have doubts about him having any elemental properties appointed to him either, he doesn't seem the type really. if anything it's going to be one of the others that are traveling with him to get that.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I think as well.
Maybe something from Qliopth (forgot how to spell it, sorry) would bless/curse it..? But it seems to already have a sort of innate power from killing so many people (and a dragon as well, I seem to remember the smith saying...?)
In my mind, it is just progressing towards the point of being the ultimate weapon of slaughter, so that it will be powerful enough to kill even one of the God Hand people.

Yeah it does seem to be progressing along the lines that way. I think the current arc might show it's growth from being a Dragon Slayer to becoming a God Slayer. And if that's the case Guts does have a good chance of fighting the God Hand. But that will just be only one part of it though, he'd still need to find a way to control the intense pain he'd get from just being in the presence of one. Plus he'd have to figure out how to actually touch one too. The way they fight is by using dimensional rifts to keep them from being touched. I don't know if Dragon Slayer will gain abilities like Skull Knight's sword.
