Well after stumbling on an uncountable number of mangas that have either been droped, halted or have 1 release every 29th february, because of the lack of people working on it...
I thought that if I really wanted things to speed up a bit maybe I should try to help right?
but with what? I know I can't read japanese and learning it would take too long. So the other position that might be needed are:
*Quality checking,
*Proofreading,
*editing, cleaning, typesetting.
I kind of know that Quality cheking and proofreading might require a very good grammar and spelling, wich was never my strong point...
So my only other option apears to learn editing, cleaning and/or typesetting.
But then again, I don't know how to do any of that... So I was wondering any of you guys know where to find a good tutorial, or maybe even can make one or something?
Or is it just hopeless, and I'll never be of any help?
P.S. I know that editing isn't easy. that's why I want to learn first. And anyway, it's still easier to learn than japanese...

Scary stuff

There should be something out there.
First link in Google for a "manga editing tutorial" search string.

Google around.

Wow that was fast!! well thanks a lot!
Yeah, the power of google is sometimes just frightening! but you need to find the "right" search string... and sometimes, even thought it's obvious (like this time). It just doesn't come to mind... (at least not mine)
Well now I'll start my "study" session then...

Storm in Heaven guide
For typesetting
Old Toriyama World guide
(I also know that illiteracy from Illuminati-Manga is making a new guide...but you'll have to wait on that one)

Also remember that every group out there has different policies on editing/typesetting

Thanks lambchopsil, very useful stuff you have there, very helpful.
Well after spending the whole night reading that, (and practicing of course), I found it a lot easier to understand than I thought it would be... But a lot harder to master than I ever thought about it! I'll need a loooot of practice before I start getting results I'll be proud of.

I've seen my fair share of editing tutorials, but most of them are overly simple and tell you common-sense things that anyone who's toyed with Photoshop knows how to do.

p00k has an excellent editing tutorial here, where I picked up a number of tips. I was also recently pointed to this tutorial by Forever More, which has some very good pointers listed.

This isn't a broad-spectrum tutorial, but is just a guide to reframing pages (which is something I haven't seen on any other guides).

I hope this helps! Too many people think editing is easy, and consequently end up doing a rushed and poor job of it. I'm relatively new at it, but I'm learning ways to improve every day.

Try Null's scanlation wiki. You'll find it on Null's webpage. It's very good.

Oh, thanks you two. I'll give them a more in depth look tonight.
I hope I can find new tips in these ones. Because I still have a loooong way to go.
