okay how will this work... http://www.onemanga.com/Air_Gear/3/22/
and the 2 pages afterward
the term "air trek" is copyrighted by ambulance company and airline tickets...
also the batteries will have to last a long time who knows u wouldn't want it to die out while you are making a jump so wouldn't a electrical generator/alternator or something for the front wheel be beneficial in charging some of the battery as you ride? somewhat like a hybrid car...
also if you recall only the back wheels are important hint only two wheels to a Regalia and they are installed in the back hinting that the front wheels are normal wheels possibly potential spot for a electric generator/alternator

Air Trek is a copyrighting company, then we just call it AIR TRECK or AIR GEARS. Doesn't matter, anyway I was thinking if ATs should have the same techs Auto/Motorcycle uses.

thats all the idea. I have no idea how to make AT, if a blueprint can be uploaded I think I have an idea how it could be made.

isn't it always on neutral? because if it were on "drive" you would only be able to go forward same for reverse the gears would have to change pretty fast if that were the case. automatic?/or control the speed yourself because there are two shoes on your feet they wont be exactly in sync. plus at cant go too fast... what go at 80mph? lol i doubt it the rpm would be too much for such small wheels also how would we use the break? the only way possible is if there was something that starts the breaks at a certain angle... oh also how would you keep one shoe from accelerating too fast and so making you do the splits? lol!

curse this primitive age!!!

umm does carbon fiber even make sparks off concrete?
maybe we can get the mythbusters to make one lol
also how energy efficient is this? how much energy is wasted in each part?

Okay, I read 7 pages and then skipped, so I hope I will add something new (yeah, I know I should´ve read the rest, but forgive me...).

Let´s see it by parts:

Motor: We need something, that keeps you "only" speeding up. The fact is, the main part of moving should rest on feet, you can´t expect today´s engines to give you "crouching start" (weeeell... let´s wait with that - mental note).
About switching and gears and so on... pressure is near to undoable. Believe me, this thing is one of those that I hate on Air Gear, it is almost impossible to maneuvre motor by this. I think the best think would be going with remote controller just with on/off.
Why? Because you can break with this. You turn it off and from that moment it´s classic skates (harder to break in 60kph, but possible).
Also, you must watch all the "skating-simmilarity" thing. Sure is nice to stand on them and ride, but realistically... what happens when you raise one foot? Your acceleration goes down (not speed, that is the first rule of mechanics - this goes down by wind and other things) cause the motor you are riding on gets bigger weight on it. BUT - more importantly, the other one (when we are talking about motors with stable income of electricity) has now NO WEIGHT ON IT AT ALL (!!!) and the wheels will probably turn like mad (cause that motor had to have enough power to accelerate to begin with). What happens when you land that foot? Right, it slides forward and you probably fall.

Conclusion to motors:

  1. Make the power little - so it can accelerate you slowly. You can´t expect "speed starts" with them, though.
  2. Take the high power - but get better physic than me (^^; ) and try to come out with something about the pressure thing. It would be reeeeally hard, though. Not mentioning controlling it, that will be hell. This can give you "speed start", though.
  3. Kill your dearest person, then draw a pentagr... OK, just kidding here. Your third possibility is mostly acceptable for you, I think (cause it is pretty near to manga). The driwing unit. You must have someone to program it and make it small. The best person would be someone from making car driwing units, but that would be too lucky to get someone like that. The unit must get data from wheels about turning and driving/jumping speed and keep the wheel spinning balanced when maintaining the spinning acceptable to speed (too low or too high after jump and you´re down there ;+) This probably can´t give you "speed start", too

About placing:
For motor go for either ATs or for back. Don´t forget that there are other places on ATs to place motor and other supportive parts then bottom (like back, top, or even wheels). Don´t worry about magnetic field, it can be... defensed (errr, terminology... I am czech, sry for some terms that will be strange). The idea about turning wheels making part of power back wasn´t bad, but I fear it would make the hardware even bigger.

About cushions:
Oh, don´t worry. You can´t ride walls anyway (to extent of few meters, I´d say), so I suppose good to very good mechanic cushion should be more than enough. I´d say this speed is more dangerous to ppl, and no cushion makes something about person falling on head. Very good personal protection should be in place for start. (Remember, in anime, they ride it for "years". In start it was just like with any sport of this type - all people with protection and few fools w/o)

About AT:
The "whole" scelet must be from something really hard to maintain foot and all other parts. I´d say something like hard scelet from ice-skates, but even more. The best for start, really.

The wheels:
Somewhat larger, but not to extent. The hardest big wheels from usual skates woould be sufficient, I think, for start. If you want to implement sth into them, go for made directly for you, no good in changing them by yourselves (of course this implements blueprints). The part that the wheel spins around is more important, because it must withstand great speeds and pressure - this will be the most fragile part.

And remember: the final thing won´t be AT. You can bet it will be as big as 1,5-2 ATs, it will look funny and it won´t be efficient.
You know what? First cellphones were big as a bag, they looked funny and they maintained energy for few hours.

Rooting for you! keep going, I will watch you and debate.

i don't think a person can make a sudden stop at 60mph... fly off and fall flat on your face and yeah... people will have to get used to breaking with their wheels like in ice skating w/o the picking into the ice part... the one where they turn and cut the ice with the blades and ice flies into someone's face one

Have you ever seen skater stoping? In skating and ice-hockey I´d say they move pretty fast. And in both they can stop on few inches... And to make it more visual the technique is like with skiing, you drive from the hill in high speed and you have to turn and !lay to the hill! - this is pretty fearsome at first (and you mustn´t touch the ground), but it can be done.

Edit: Yeah, on ice it´s easier. On ground you will probably slide a little - but you know about it and you can count with it before stopping. It´s just about getting used to it. Of course, mistake = falling in great speed. As in skiing, it could be lethal.

yeah they can stop because they have something to stop them that is not a break ice skaters have a pick on the blade and use it to stop while rollerbladers have a piece of rubber in the back of the shoes to stop with plus i don't think it will be able to stop yourself if u were going at 60mph
thats why to do a sudden stop would require a special technique like turning the wheels to a 90degree angle from your initial direction and sliding with them

but that would cause a lot of damage to the wheels

wondering how each Regalia would be made...

materials for fang road would obviously some kind of metal, but how would a shock wave be generated from that, so would the flame since it causes sparks and flames... some how... i wonder what the sparks ignites? 😕

Well, this can always be solved when the ATs already done (the wheels). You can change them easily (unless you´ve got some components built in them, which won´t be the case, I´d say...)

if this project ends up with a gas powered AT that would suck... 🤢 >:-(

yeah. gas powered AT would be bad for environment. i want AT to be fun, not for polluting and killing, so lets forget about regalia for now.

about the braking, what about disc brakes? find a small hydraulic or pneumatic system, and put it on the back of AT.

so when you want to brakes, just lean back, and it will slow down. want a sudden stop? put as much pressure on the back of AT and we'll might end up with two possibilities (succesive brake or falling and rolling).

so it'll be best just for slowing down so we can brake like wolfii said.

edit
coz when we ride the AT we will lean forward, so i think it should be wise to put the brake on the back wheels. so when we lean back, it will act like a car pedals.

THATS what I posted, the ATs should have braking system (not leaning but the heel should be press down) acceleration (feet forward pressed down). Anywho, braking 60 mph can be possible nothing is impossible in this world, well somethings are. That aside, it would suck if the ATs are Gas Powered, because gas is high right now, F no!

Good luck for those who are making the ATs, I would like it if they posted the Blueprint.

we HAVE to put brakes in the thing. you ever been on a bike at 60km/h. well, the braking system you suggested woule roughly compare to hit both front and back wheel on a bike at 60, you'd start drifting until you either frontflip, or you slide to one side, fall and keep sliding on your face. plus the structural support that we would have to put in the frame to make it withstand all the weight of a guy that suddenly change direction and want to drift until he stops. either the frame would break, the engine would rev up, or the wheel would wear down in hours or all of them together.

in ice skating they can do that cause they have a firkking STEEL blade on their feet, not a amateur assembled frame with moving parts kept together with tape.

forget about that kind of breaking until you are at least under 40kmh.

btw horrible news

i just got my new calculation done and you'll need 25hp to get to 60 kmh with ats. thats over 18000watts. a medium grinder packs 350 watts.

i'll do them again maybe i miscarried a number somewhere <_<

I dont know but this mght be helpful http://pdf.aiaa.org/preview/CDReadyMUAV2003_834/PV2003_6632.pdf

As for the brake you could use a system that rerout the emergy going in to no cease but work in lower quainties until it does so.I also think you should try starting slower as to leave room for error so if something goes wrong you can work it out into a faster pair. Just saying.

Well, about the blueprint, first of all, i have not made a new one and the old one is not working so i believe it might be a waste of time to study that one second of all, the blueprint is printed on a page that is like very big, so i dont know how i should be able to upload it, maybe if i got to a copy company, and they might have a scanner big enough, or maybe if i split it up to 8/4 pieces, but then it would be freakin hard reading it, ill see what i can do.
But when i read ur guys posts and so on, it makes me feel like your sidetracking alot, try to ignore everything and focus on the hardest part of the project(thats how i did at least, tho it might not ended up perfectly) so think only about the engine or only about the breaks, dont fill your head with like 3 different theory's of different parts, like 3 different breaks 3 different engines, and so on.

Ill come back to u guys.
