Greetings everyone, im here today in an attempt to make the harem tag in, "Overlord" the novel disappear.
To begin with, the mc, "Ainz Ooal Gown" is unable to feel any emotion beyond a certain threshold. Hence, love or any such feelings should be removed ones it passes that threshold. Secondly, Ainz has stated numerous time throughout the novel that he sees his servants, the creation of his companions, as his children. He loves them no more than one those for his or hers own child. If we were to go beyond his, "Children" then it is safe to say that he holds no creature, no npc, as close to his heart as them (it is not love, more of a fatherly attitude)
The one thing that might spark a thought that goes against this might be in the beginning when Ainz requested to touch one of Albedo breast in order to check if it was real. It was the only time he requested this and is, i dare say, countered by him viewing them as, "Children" when he found out they were real.
We could say that all of his servants loves him, both male and female as well as the ones without a gender. Most of the npc´s look at him as god while shalltear and Albedo see him as a love interest (the later of the two does so because Ainz changed her settings before entering the world of Yggrdasil, which i believe is the name of the world in overlord). Ainz, as he has stated, does not share the feeling and continues to see them as his children. In a way you could say it is like the manga, "Death note" where Light has several followers that see him as god and two that knows him in person and loves him. I fail to see how an outright refused relationship (the relationship being the love between ainz and shalltear as well as Albedo) can be see as a harem. Not to mention that there are only two of them, barely even making it a harem in the first place. It isn't even a romance.
If you do have other thoughts or opinions, feel free to voice them so that we might finally come to an agreed decision if the harem tag should say.
