just looking for any novels where there is a big betrayal
I would prefer if the betrayer wasn't all evil (like, haha i betrayed you for money), just flawed (like lancelot in the king arthur tales, who was in love with guinevere etc). i would LOVE it if the betrayer felt intense regret while doing the betraying.
fantasy/historical novels=love

How about Katniss from Hunger Games?
I could tell you why I think that, but the reasons are too numerous... I would be here all night!
Trust me, it's what your looking for... at least partly. No real betrayal in the sense you're talking about, but definitely betrayal.

Are you looking for novels or manga?
Well, there's a series called the Inheritance Cycle that has a bit of betrayal in it... but it's kinda forced in a way? Yet at the same time it isn't.
Don't know if you've read them. You're in about the right age group when the first one came out and was popular.
Anyway, first book is Eragon, if you want to look it up. They're written for "young adults" to be honest, but I enjoyed them immensely myself.

You could try The Quiet American, it's an excellent character piece that may have what you're after.

The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks has some betrayal in it. It's one of those books that try's to be deep but can't quite make it. Still good but the mc gets a bit soft and pathetic at points. Not very good characterization if that's what your looking for.
White Cat by Holly Black is really good. You don't hear from the betrayer but the betrayed but its still good. Excellent character development in my opinion.
Also A Series if Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket is riddled with betrayal but no remorse.
Wicked by Gregory McGuire has the betrayal AND the remorse. It's a bit hard to read but it's good.
I would definally recommend to you Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert, I think you would love it, because I sure did 🙂
Also try The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Both books have betrayal within it, but at a certain extent 🙂 I enjoyed both. I love old books!!

But if it makes you happy to win on the internet, have at it.
