Back in January of 2012, we had a poll where the issue was "Assuming money is not an issue, how would you prefer to consume your manga?" The majority of voters said they would prefer to read manga in its printed volume form. Now our user !xoble is asking what your actual reading tendencies are. So what's the reality for you? Mostly on your computer? Or you got plenty of actual paper?

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Comparing your anime consumption between now and 5 years ago...
Choices:
I started watching anime in the last 5 years - votes: 1554 (12.9%)
I watch a lot more now - votes: 2303 (19.1%)
I watch just a little more now - votes: 658 (5.5%)
About the same - votes: 1145 (9.5%)
Watch a little less now - votes: 1610 (13.4%)
Watch a lot less now - votes: 3370 (28%)
I stopped watching anime - votes: 1410 (11.7%)
There were 12050 total votes.
The poll ended: June 21st 2013

This one has mostly an opposite conclusion than the previous week's manga-orientated poll. Figures, as we're a manga site. Besides, although it may take 22 minutes to watch an episode of anime, it does not usually take 22 minutes to read a chapter of manga.

Any of you remember the Shonen Jump magazine by Viz? I used to read it early in high school since a friend of mine had it. I thought it was the best thing ever at the time.

Ha, I remember seeing Shonen Jump at grocery stores.

I read manga on a tablet. Actually, everything I do online is on my tablet.

I read manga on my laptop. I tried reading it on my Kindle, but I gave up - I had to download chapters, convert them, upload them to Kindle, then the screen was usually too small to make out what was written in the speech bubbles, so I had to enlarge the picture, making it very inconvenient to read.

Mostly on my laptop.
Any new series I read, it's gonna be on my laptop. I only buy manga for the series that I know I like and would read again.

On a desktop computer. My second choice would be from the actual volumes.

I've bought the Shounen Jump magazine by Viz before... But it was really too expensive, so I eventually stopped. 20 dollars for one magazine. =.= Never again would I buy that.

I mostly read on my laptop but, like the person above I also buy volumes. I buy my volumes from secondhand stores and places like that though.

I had a hard time choosing here, because I read on my laptop most, but if I've taken the trouble to convert a manga I only read it from my e-reader or tablet, because it's way more convenient o.o I went with the small portable device because that's how like to read them most. Plus I'll probably read on my tablet more once I've found a picture viewer which can both see my external SD and sort by filename. ._.

Edit: I buy volumes of my favorites too, to appease my inner fangirl, just like I do with other books. But just like with other books it's just so much easier to carry my e-reader around than it is to bring volumes along, so I hardly ever read from the dead tree editions... I see those more as collectible items o.o

Edit2: Just found the right app for my tablet <3

On my laptop or desktop, depending where I am.

Using the amazing "Mangameeya" software, which is so much better than any online reader.

Usually, I use my laptop, but I try to find the book in the library if it's been translated officially. If I really like the book, I'll buy the actual volume.

Actually, reading manga on a decently sized tablet sounds really comfortable

Yet another pointless poll. 😔
Of course most people are using some type of computer to read manga if they are here.

I read manga on my laptop and by reading the actual volumes.
I prefer reading the actual volumes (so I chose that one), but I probably end up reading on my laptop more (unfortunately).

I'm one of the hypocrites who prefers real paper volumes but reads digitally because of convenience, availability, and money reasons. (Recently, I really like the sites where I can buy digital manga, like ebookjapan. I usually only buy the real volumes for my favorites.) I read on my laptop. I like a laptop's combination of reasonable-size screen, portability, and capabilities, compared to desktop/tablet/kindle.

Anyway, I'm surprised that over 10% are actually reading on smaller devices. (Are there really people who can stand reading manga on a little phone screen??) I remember a digital manga poll and quite a few people didn't like digital readers (kindle, etc.) because they felt their screens were too small for manga. But smart phones and tablets have become much more popular since then, so maybe people have adapted?
