First of all hi, first time posting here even though your site has helped me for quite a while. 😁 I'm also not sure if this topic fits here, but anyway...

I had some new release submissions rejected (or maybe they never even got through), presumably because the group has no info beyond its name and a torrent account and therefore doesn't officially exist in the database, and have also noticed that a fairly popular manga (Yotsubato!) has had 2 releases that were never registered here, possibly because the group chooses not to even tag their releases with credits or have an official site/blog to keep them posted.
So I was wondering, is having every detail on each release more important than just letting people know they are at least out there somewhere to be found? Personally, when checking the database I rather have vague info on the latest chapters than none at all and leaving under the false impression I'm up-to-date on a series.

On a related note, even though my submissions weren't approved/valid, they still show up on my profile, leaving me with 4 "ghost" contributions. Is this normal?

You sure those 3 releases show up on your profile?

We require a group in our database for quality control reasons

He's/she's asking about the fact that the site keeps track of how many attempts one tried to add releases/groups to the site.... even if they are not approved (3 releases + 1 group). Such as, I have 816 release attempts yet only have 701 approved.

I'm not sure if this is the reason or not, but I think of it as a means to keep track of those that know what to do and those that do not--either from fake releases, not enough info, or scans rather than scanlations.

Ah, you meant just the numbers. Yes, that's regular.
