Ok, so earlier, I went to an Anime/Manga shop(building) for the sole reason of buying a new anime bag , there was a vast options of stuffs to choose from, from mangas, bags, earphones, etc.. And it was my first time to that huge shop..

When I was about to go to the counter, I saw a man(same age as me, I think), he was buying a Moe pillow, out of instincts, I gave him a disgusted look, well... maybe I was just being envious cause he have the guts to buy that, unlike me, but even if I had the guts, I think I still wouldn’t buy something like that, it just,,, doesn’t seem normal for me, Just thinking of hugging a Moe pillow, kinda disgust me or something??

So, would you guys buy Moe stuffs, why and why not??

I’m an anime/manga fan, but I‘m not that hardcore to be called an Otaku

I wouldn't judge anyone else buying this stuff, but for me it's a line I wouldn't cross. If I'd ever find myself hugging one of those pillows at night, I'd think something must've gone wrong in my life. I realize I only feel this way because it's labeled as "abnormal" by society, but no... Anime and manga are great, but that's a bit too much for me.

I'd buy other stuff though (keychains, bags, doujinshi etc.)

I would never consider a body pillow Moe.

but I think body pillows are way too big, so I wouldn't get one.

Depends on the price, the quality and also what I'm buying. No hugging pillows though. I prefer teddybears, but back at my grandma's house I was using her hugging pillows (3 in total)...It was so good...you know what I might consider it! Depends on the image on it the quality and the price. (I also used it to take down other people with that pillow in a pillow fight 🤣 )

Anyway, I would never buy a body pillow for myself, because it is embarrassing and I would be like "what a waste of money", maybe... but if someone gave me one, I would use it and laugh a lot every time. I'm also okay with people buying it, even Menma and Taiga naked body pillow, I mean, it is their money and they are the ones who are going to use it.

For the rest, I would buy a hoodie, figures etc.

If such a pillow is just something you want to have, for decoration or something then I guess it's okay.

But when someone buys one as a substitute of a living human being (interpret this as you want) then it is a bit creepy. Maybe I wouldn't judge such people or call them disgusting, but they definitely have some problems with themselves.

I remember the first time I found out something like dakimakura existed, it was by looking at this picture. And every time this subject is brought up, I remember it again 🙂 But I don't think such people are losers, just... a bit lost, maybe?

=_= No. Well first off I'm a girl, and I also don't care too much for the whole "moe" style in the first place. Well I also don't typically buy anime merchandise but that's because I prefer more traditional decorations, my distaste for nonfunctional knickknacks, unwillingness to spend money and a general sense of shame my family instilled in me.

But apart from that, I might buy equivalent stuff more suited to my preferences but only if it was in good taste.

I've tried to understand the body pillow mentality. I've seen some of the male body pillows. Honestly, I could not sleep next to one of those. They creep me out. I feel I'd have to loose a vital part of my dignity to enjoy seeing a half naked anime character giving me that kind of look on a freaking pillow. I dunno, is it different for girls than guys, or am I right in thinking there might be something wrong with them? To be clear, I don't mind all body pillows, just the ones that are too obviously ***ing material.

i would personally not buy body pillows
i just dont see me doing anything with it be it hugging it or otherwizeee

however i have a friend who have a couple
i think it is weird
coming into his apartment seeing large weird pillows in his bed when walking by his bedroom
but
he knows he is weird and he likes being weird
i guess those ppl are the ones who buy these silly things
