do not include a killer that kills gay kids?
lol, two titles mentioned before were A Better Place by Roeder and Dumb Jock by Erno.
Also J. M. Colail - Wes and Toren
Berman, Steve - Vintage (A Ghost Story)
Mark Kendrick - Desert Sons
Mark A. Roeder - Someone Is Watching
lol, I think I kind of moved from the sweet YA gay novel to rape/torture/BDSM gay novel.....let me just say that I will not be mentioning any of those here.....they are really really.....shocking....

I'm a wimp that can't even stand reading Pokemon Creepypastas so rape/torture/BSDM novels are a no-no for me. I like the sweet stuff 😀 But thank you for the suggestions, I'm off to hunt them down on my library search engines as we speak.
In other news, my search to actually purchase my favorite gay YA novel of all time, Absolutely, Positively Not, has again ended in failure. Screw you, badly organized Borders shelves.

click the underlined words for the goodies
P.S. Roeder is the duke of YA gay fiction. He has whole series of them. Someone is Watching takes place before A better place but both can be read independently since they are about two different pair of teenagers. You might find A Better Place to have sweet and mind blowing moments.....I have to warn you that there's rape, molestation in the book.

Besides the goodreads list, which I've checked out but seems to have a lot of repeat titles, does anyone have any suggestions for gay teen novels that do not include a killer that kills gay kids?.
The list I linked to is from Sanchez's site and the titles on it are of the happish bunny variety, as are the ones I rec'ed. Just read my first Sanchez title (Getting it) and I totally agree with you that he's not the best writer but deals with his topic solidly. Since you like him, I'd rec James Howe, as he's a better (still not awesome, but better) writer and handles a lot of the same territory.
Another one you may like " is "Tips on Having a Gay (ex)Boyfriend". It's written from the perspective of a straight girl, but for some reason it popped into my head when I saw that you liked "Absolutely Positively Not".

I think I made a mistake when I typed that I preferred books with happy endings. I don't mind novels with sad endings. I'm just sick of reading about them because they're in just about every other book I read. Usually it's complete red herring stuff, too. So if anyone has a book that is well written but has a slightly downer ending then please recommend it because I'll probably enjoy it.

In my opinion, Getting It is one of Sanchez's weaker titles. I really enjoyed The God Box by him, because it deals with the issue of gay's in the Christian sphere, one of my favorite topics, and there's always his classic Rainbow Boys trilogy.
Aside from that, I've read James Howe's Misfits and Totally Joe (and his Bunnicula stuff, which I love, but that's another topic for another time) but I don't know if he's written any other gay teen books. He usually writes childrens books if I remember correctly so I was a little shocked when I picked up Misfits.

I've looked up that book and always passed it over. I should probably check it out. And I'll go check out those lists you mentioned. Thanks, guys 😀

Bumping this thread because I can't let it die. Who will discuss gay novels otherwise?
Not too much on my front, through. I've picked up Two Boys at Swim, a period novel set in an older Irish period. It's really heavy, and one very long read, so I haven't finished even half of it yet. I'm hoping to wrap it up before July but, to keep my mind from exploding due to all the heavy period talk, I'm taking breaks and reading lighter fair. Love Drugged is almost finished. I've also got a few new YA novels I've read about and will soon request via inter library loan.

I recommend "21:30 Old Compton Fair Blue 6 Feet”
Author: "Marco Villa”
ISBN 1467000353 or 978-1467000352
It’s a light and yet intensive book like Uhlman’s ”Reunion”. There is everything from travel adventures in Europe, America, Middle East, Africa, Japan to love stories, from dating, to friendship. It is set in the late nineties to our days and outlined by the historical events we all know and their influence in the main character.

hay wuts goin on in here?
So I was passing by, and noticed this thread. I know there's a couple of people on KAT who scan MM novels almost exclusively- they keep popping up in my feed. FF novels are done by someone else I think. I could give you guys a link or two, but I'm uncertain as to whether or not it's allowed, and I'd rather not get modded. I guess drop me a line or something?
I don't really have nearly as strong a taste for this as I used to. I still enjoy it somewhat, but... let's just say that it's all fun and games until it happens to you. 😐
