Heroes of Newerth

This game looks like a great DoTA clone. Two teams of up to five players each take on the role of special Hero units. Boasts sixty different heroes, split into two factions. With the assistance of AI-controlled armies, each team sets out with the sole objective of destroying the other team's base. As a match progresses, players can earn experience and gold which can be used to upgrade skills or purchase items to make their character more powerful.
So what do you guys think?
I actually haven't played the game yet so I'm looking for impressions from people and see if the game is worth the purchase.
Also a beta key would be nice if you have one. 🤣

I think I'll stick with dota.
Excuse me but, WTF!? Free accounts on Garena for South East Asian players? Furthermore, said countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines) cannot purchase an account to play on international servers? F*** that!
I don't wanna play on the shithole that is Garena even if it is free. Especially with allowing free accounts, the anti-leaver system just goes out the window and there'll be feeder/spy accounts everywhere.

Yup. When I want DotA, I play DotA.

Actually it's pretty good, there are a few mechanism that work better in HoN than in DotA, like hotkeys for the items, and i can assure you that there are almost no leavers, and the system to reconnect after you have left a game is very usefull. Still i got my share of game in this six7seven months of beta, so i don't think i'm gonna buy it.

I find that statement add. DotA has many useless features, having been built from a RTS.
Even though I played for a good bit, I couldn't never really get into it, with the steep learning curve and it's unbelievingly unforgiving community.
Graphics are severely outdated, though that's a minor point.
Adding hotkeys and VOIP are two features that come with the software, not added software.

I don't understand how you can say that, leaving is pretty much gone since you can see how often leave based on a percentage. With ELO rating system (the same used for professional chess) you can set yourself to only play with people who are as competent as you are.
HoN (League of Legends and Bloodline Champions too) are steps in the right direction, creating a much needed standalone game for a maphack. Though as most things, people will always complain about the new and stick to old.

Like I said, since people can make free accounts, you never know who the leavers are...it might be he made a new account because his previous account had too many leaves.

I wonder how big DotA's player base will be a year or two from now, what with League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth out.

But with the ELO system, you won't be playing against newbies. A person who just started, especially a chronic leaver, can't get a high enough ELO to bother average, regular players.

I would like to know also, I have heard that with these new games DotA has seen a noticeable drop in players.
