why so many people call one volume manga "oneshot"?

Pretty much that's it. ^__^ I was reading the comments recently and I became curious. How can a manga be a "oneshot" if it has three or five chapters? Oo

Oneshot refers to a stand-alone story and published in a single issue. Therefore, the term can be applied to what most people consider oneshots as well as single volume stories.

I think chinese rider is talking about one volume one shots collections by the same author. Well, it's self explanatory why they are labeled as one shot. One volume stories that span several chapters aren't really one shots.
