In the first 24h, Diablo III has been bought by 3,5 millions players plus those who had it with a one year WoW subscription (1,2 millions players) plus koreans who play in cyber cafe, Blizzard estimates the sales of Diablo III at 6+ millions copies for the first 24 hours only !!! Crazy...

Well Blizzard just release high quality games, their company releases games of certain standards, thats why they are so popular 😮
Their old games are still very popular and played a lot (DoTa helps but still their game xD) which says how good they are. For example ive given up on Ea because almost every game ive bought from them has been crap and made me disappointed, but every Blizzard game has made me happy and satisfied for the money i bought them with, and atm im a happy owner of a legendary rainbow sword with mah barbarian, that secret level is pure epic.

Sold well, at launch...

Yet it's not super popular(outside of the diablo crowd) or widely acclaimed as "greatest game ever".
It's just another Diablo game, anyone who has experience with games in the last decade can tell you the game is rather aged for a 2012 game.

They took a lot out for launch, this isn't that high a quality game, just blizzard fans have pretty low standards...

Do you know the numbers sold after launch? Dont make comments that sound like facts with no evidence to support it, and how would u know its not popular outside of the diablo crowd? You are making baseless assumptions and the fact that u say that blizzard fans have low standards is just really rude. I did not play diablo 2, bought diablo 3 and loved it, you are just making biased assumptions. Its just a simple hack and slash game, that rivals those games from 2012 in sales despite being an aged game like u call it.

High quality games? old blizzard yes but activisionblizzard no.. Diablo 3 is a major disappointment to alot of people that bought it thinking they would get a great game.. it is nowhere near as good as the older blizzard games and it is not worth the 60€

And quite a few of it's sales are probably because of the fact that it hasn't been cracked.

Wait so it isn't a legitimate sale because people hadn't cracked the game? oh my god my world is a lie 😮 , and kekpew thats your opinion i found it quite entertaining, and im sure a large amount people that didnt like it just finished the normal act one acting like they actually finished the larger part of the game stating its to easy/short.

Yup. Activision Blizzard has yet to release a single quality game.

I mean, sure, both Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 are great games but they didn't exactly go and change the formula or anything. Starcraft 1 was an amazing gameand SC2 just built on that and the same can be said for Diablo 3.

I think SC2 was still a much larger improvement on SC1 than Diablo 3 was on D2. Activisions influence on SC2 was most certainly noticeable with the lack of LAN, their new custom map system and the new ladder system. Despite all of this SC2 remained mostly a solid game.

Diablo 3 is a whole 'nother story however. Nightmare through hell is boring and completely pointless and the moment you hit inferno you have to start blowing all your money on the auction house seeing as hell does not drop the required gear enough to farm up an entire set of useful gear yourself. Convenient then, that blizzard is implementing a real money auction house off of which they will make some 80% commission and that they (as stated recently by Bashiok) manipulate in game drop rates to keep the market from being flooded with good items.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

They probably just built upon the same formula since their predecessors were still popular. They didn't need to change anything since they already have a huge fanbase. Just add some new features here and there and voila.

The sales just prove that. Sure, there were a lot who were disappointed, but there is also just as many who were happy with it. Go figure.

Honestly I am quite disappointed in D3, the lack of LAN doesn't help either. But I guess I may have been spoiled a bit by the free-to-play games I have been picking up, that are to me much more fun to play. Path of Exile is similar to D3, but it has a more customizable skill tree, and the skills are done differently, and you aren't limited to just a few button keys to use them. I would have preferred to invest the $60 into Path of Exile than D3, but I don't have to, it's free. It's just still in beta.... but I got to play the beta and it was fun.

I admit I liked SC2, but it would have been way better if it had LAN option. Battle.net servers get really laggy sometimes. I would prefer LAN if I am in the same house as the people I am playing with. I hate multi-player games that don't allow for LAN options.

Its still beyond me why people arent going apeshit about Diablo 3 having Always online DRM.. getting in a server que for singleplayer is pretty stupid 🙁

If it was anyother company people would be crying all over the internets..

No, the sales are legitimate. I'm saying that if it had been cracked, many of those who purchased it would have downloaded it, and avoided purchasing it.

Well, everything comes down to the always-on DRM : hackers can't crack it, average people can't download/play it for free, the sales are huge,... And then they'll make all the more money with the real currency AH, but I understand that it may be a better system than black market on ebay (maybe...)

For the game itself, it's so much less complex than D2, be it the skills selection, the stuff you get and so on. Blizzard bet on the accessibility and they've done it well, most of the players who didn't play D2 find D3 just awesome, but fan of D2 find it disappointing cause they were waiting for a revolution in gaming like D2 was ! This is pretty impossible, for its time D2 was the messiah of the video game ^^

lolwut? I'm pretty sure you've misread that bit of information.
If they took over 20% commission off each sale, there would be quite an uproar...and no one would use it.
LOL 80%.
