I agree... but if they were just flat out gay, would those guys really be so excited about peeking up girls' skirts?

I'm sure there's a gay character or two in there, but it doesn't really matter. The series is shounen, not shounen-ai.

I watched lots of the anime (even though it has so much filler and stalling), and Yu-Gi-Oh! is put into Shounen Jump in the USA and in Japan too. It's not shounen-ai or yaoi, despite how much shounen ai and yaoi fans would love if it were (but with how much doujinshi/fanfiction there is out there, they don't probably really need that satisfaction).

And also the fangirls that probably want the guy characters to be gay for their own amusement.. I heard one girl that heard all this speculation that all the guys in Gundam were gay, and yet when she watched it she saw nothing that showed they were gay between any of the characters (well, at least with her eyes. But a yaoi fan-girl could maybe read a pairing between two guys with just a group picture with a bunch of girls plus those two guys).

I don't think there is a gay character in Yu-Gi-Oh!, but there are characters that can be girly. Or maybe that's also the less pretty side of being a bishounen (not all of them can be equally drop-dead gorgeous with so may of them).

And you can read Yu-Gi-Oh! manga online, if you know the right sources. For the book version, check your public library since manga has gained popularity and the library has decided to include/cater to their teen audience. 🙂

Does anyone think that a mangaka (not a doujinshi writer) would bother to mix shounen and shounen ai in a manga targeted for guys? 😕 Does anyone know if any manga that was intended for guys has a "gay" character that wasn't for comic relief purposes? There is also the serious route about being gay, but that could be josei or seinen, right? Just some thoughts that crossed my mind. ^_^;

exactly.....also, if you think Yu gi oh is gay, then Naruto must be pure yaoi. God knows how many BL jokes they got in there. Let's see, start with Sasuke and Naruto kissing. Then onto Sakura's perverse comment about Gai Sensi always wearing tights and looking 'strange' running while carrying someone. Then we go to Sai the potty mouth. He commented on Naruto's private parts a lot. Then we go to the scene where we see sexy jitsu used on Sakura showing Sai and Sauske naked hugging.
