Can you play?
Yes and no :/. I'm okay at playing Trumpet, and I'm pretty bad at Saxophone.

Clarinet, Guitar, Piano (in that order).
I'm looking into taking up Bass and Tenor Sax, too. Probably Bass, and then the Sax, because lord knows a Bass is going to be way cheaper than a sax.

I play piano, trombone, and cello. A weird mix, I know. I played in a bunch of marching bands with my trombone and that was fun, but very tiring.

Don't underestimate the cost of the bass!! Especially if you do it to like be in a band. Your gonna need a high wattage amp. Strings cost 25 bucks a pop.
If your doin it for hobby, then just get a P-Bass starter pack that comes with a 15 watt bassman amp. I'm saving right now to get a Stingray, and that cost 1500 dollars!!

Don't underestimate the cost of a sax. Cheap stringed instruments are usually playable, but cheap woodwinds are often nothing of the sort. To put it in perspective, my current guitar cost me about $100 and it works fine. I own a $700 clarinet that is such an unholy piece of--well, let's not go there; suffice to say that it's terrible, and largely unplayable. Of course, my $2000 clarinet is an intermediate level instrument, good enough for school performances; a pro model would run me about $5k. Saxes are comparable in price.
When learning an instrument, cheap but playable is the way to go. A cheap but playable sax is probably not very cheap, and certainly hundreds more than a cheap but playable bass!
