p.s. We have found an adequate number of fan translators, thank you!
Hi, I am Marishi of Mantra Inc.
We at Mantra are beginning a new test project with a publisher, Shogakukan, to translate manga officially with the help of fan translators (scanlators) using our translation tool called Mantra Engine (here is an overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3gRg6pOXBw. English subtitles are available, so please use the CC button on YouTube if you'd like to see them).
The reason we created Mantra Engine is that currently, most manga takes too long to be published officially and made available for readers overseas. Because of this, the community has to rely on fan translators (scanlators) that volunteer their free time to translate manga, out of their love for the medium. However, no one gets paid for their hard work in this current system, neither the manga authors nor the fan translators.
With Mantra Engine, we hope to solve both problems. Manga can be made available outside of Japan more quickly, and everyone can be paid for their work — not only the manga authors but also fan translators.
That brings us back to the test: we would like to see if it is possible to publish more manga quickly and officially with the help of fan translators and our translation tool. In the test, fan translators will translate manga with some help of our software.
As part of this test, we would like to recruit fan translators to begin translating the 2 titles below that are popular in Japan, into English versions (you can read a couple of chapters in the original Japanese at the URLs below).
Once these titles are translated, we will publish them on an official website.
異剣戦記ヴェルンディオ(Iken Senki Velundio) https://urasunday.com/title/1349/126872
1000円ヒーロー (1000 yen hero) https://urasunday.com/title/335/33343
(We might add ケンガンアシュラ(Kengan Ahura) and ケンガンオメガ(Kengan Omega) to our list in the future https://urasunday.com/title/3/122).
We would like to recruit translators, typesetters, and proofreaders for this test.
We will offer you some payment for your help (we will let you know the price in the interview).
If you can help us, please kindly sign-up from the URL below to have an interview. In the interview, we are going to check your identity and experience as a translator.

Once this project is proven to work well, we may be able to expand this project for more manga titles in the future, and share profits with contributing fan translators instead of payment per page.
After you register, you will be having an interview with us, and then we will be having a contract and let you know how to translate manga in the project.
If there are a lot of people signing up, we may ask you to wait until your help becomes necessary.
Thank you very much for your time!
