Ok, i`ve been wondering for a while now what most of the people think. In all of those forms of entertainment, where you think you can find the best stories? (Quality, not Quantity)

My opinion, is that games offer the best kind of story, i dont know if its thanks to the interactivity or something else, but ive never been absorbed by something so much as with a game. Ive also got to say, one of the biggest reasons im so into manga and anime today is because of certain games. More specifically as time went by, i realized it became harder and harder for me to be satisfied by a game as i used to... and so i thought that it was due to the fact that unfortunately there are only a few games out there with the potential to blow your mind away with their story. So when i started reading manga, i got impressed with the quantity of the good titles i stumbled across(and i still do), and the thought " whatever... who needs games anymore..." passed my mind, but still after remembering titles like Xenogears or digital devil saga, i cant help but fill that if i want to experience this kind of story again i have to keep searching through the bombardment of new titles that surround me every day to find the thing im looking for... so thats it for me, sorry for the long speech. 😀

Books, no question about it. I can come up with over a hundred astoundingly great titles for classic books.

I would say books also, because let just say books have been around much longer then that other media and the fact that every story is writen down on paper before going into any form of artform explains it all.

If i were to rate these media.
Book would rank 1st, Then manga because its also a writen book of a sort. anime shouldn't be in the same category as manga because it a different media. it should be categories as part of t.v show. i would Rank game and movie as 3rd, and tv show and anime as 4th. last would be other. theses are just what i think.

Books, since they generally completely focused on storyline. The visual aspect of manga, anime, games, and movies can distract people from the storyline and focus on things such as action sequences and the like. In addition, the creators of movies, manga, etc. have to prioritize what is important visually vs. what is important story-wise, since more often than not something that would be good story wise gets cut out in place of something visually appealing, based on the medium.

If I had to rank them, it would be 1) Book, 2) Manga, 3) Movies 4) Games. Manga is almost like a book, except with a visual focus attached. Movies require a bunch of things to get a story to feel right, such as music, appropriate actor/actresses, a good director, etc. Games have to focus on things such as gameplay, music, visual appeal, etc. all of which can take away from a story.

thx for your opinions, your thoughts are welcomed.
Regarding books, i cant say ive read that many... probably around 30-40 titles in all my life, and with one exception (a book about the apocalypse or something...) all of them where superb. But still i haven`t been so entagled by a books story, as with either games or manga. No offence, but since the good games in this aspect are so few (in my opinion at least), maybe you have missed them, or played them at an inapropriate age maybe.

Books are limited only by your imagination.

And they're cheap(er) to publish, so writers can take more risks with them, and there millions more choices in books than all the others. Not all of them are good, but it will win by sheer numbers anyway.

And, as true_grave_unit mentioned, all the other choices given are also judged by many other aspects besides the story and characters.

While this doesn't mean that a story told in those mediums are necessarily worse than if it were a book, it does take some of the focus away, and can possibly force the writer to make compromises between the plot and those other aspects (like how movies often end up cutting out large parts so that it doesn't run too long).

Edit: and this really doesn't have much of a bearing, but my two favorite animes are based on books, and not mangas =P

Books, pretty much at a tie with manga...I haven't played lots of games so I can't say much, and I've never been too fond of movies.

Plot line you say...
I've read most amazing books with wonderfull stories.
I've also read really good manga, with great plot lines.
Rarly have I found movies that were better that books, and games.. well.. not really, haven't played too many,,

It's a hard comparison..
But I would say books.
Second is manga.. 🙄

@HeavennevaeH- love you avatar!! sad manga though~~

I think the obvious choice is books. They're the most flexible when creating storylines. It can be as long as you want, as descriptive as you want. Movies have a 2-hour limit, sometimes not quite long enough to express or weave an intricate story together. Books can sometimes come in a series that can total thousands of pages. Manga can be compared to books but without the imagination aspect (because the images are already laid out for you)
And games...well...yes, there are games with awesome stories (Metal Gear, Suikoden, Final Fantasy, Xenogears, etc...) but none really that can ever compare with a good book. As much as I love games, the priority of games is, of course, gameplay. Storyline just plays second fiddle. I'd be surprised if anyone seriously chose games as the best vehicle to tell a story.

Games, manga or books.
I think I'll say manga or books
for I've gotten pretty tired
of games. Maybe books?
Hmm. I guess books.
