New Poll - Rating Series

This week's poll is from our member nowyat. It's an examination of how you tend to rate series. Do you tend to rate with a normal distribution or is it skewed in one direction? You could even think about how you rate things on Yelp, Amazon, Netflix, etc. I feel most people tend to rate things on the good side just to be nice. Unless it's really bad, then tank that score to a 0
Edit: Added another option, so you'll need to re-vote
Edit 2: Forgot another good option
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Which aspect of a translation is more important to you?
Choices:
Accuracy: I like manga translation to retain characteristics of the language of the original, to show the linguistic and cultural differences between Japanese culture and my own. - votes: 9633 (73.6%)
Fluency: I like manga translation to read as if the author was native English speakers, so that linguistic and cultural differences are minimized. - votes: 3458 (26.4%)
There were 13091 total votes.
The poll ended: May 3rd 2013
Good luck to mattfabb on analyzing this data and writing a university-level paper.

Second option for me, but not because I'm easy when it comes to ratings. If I don't enjoy the story, I just stop reading in the middle without bothering to complete the series (unless it's a oneshot or a single/double-volume manga, in which case I do - usually, but not always - see it through to the end even if I dislike it); and, on principle, I never rate a manga I haven't read to completion, so very few of the series on my complete lists are rated below a 5, because any series that's longer than 2 volumes which I think deserving of a rating lower than 4.5 or so is on my unfinished list, and therefore not rated.
My general rating range is 5 to 9, with lower than 5 being oneshots or short manga that I didn't like but finished anyway, and higher than 9 any manga (oneshot, short or long series) that I liked very, very much.

Needs option for rating only really good or really bad things. everything else gets no rating normally.

Drat, didn't even think of that option. I'll add that now

I only rate the stuff I enjoy (6 and above) and/or I'd like to reread.
EDIT: It's more just a reminder for myself. If it's not memorable or I'm never to look at it again, I'd rather ignore it than clutter up the space with all these ratings. The only exceptions are manga I've already purchased (although if I do love it enough, I'd also give it a rating - just to be nice).

I rate so, that I have about the same amount of 1's, 1,5's, ..... 9,5's and 10's. average is about 4.
if there is an option between "to do" and "not to do", I will always choose the latter.

I generally give high ratings because if I don't find it truly entertaining I just drop it there and then, I see no point in wasting time reading something I think is boring or just straight out bad.

There's no option for legitimately giving the series the rating it deserves... >.>

Second option for me, but I actually use the low end of the scale when I think its needed.
It seems like most people think highly of everything or they don't actually use the low end of the scale; there are so many 8s, 9s and 10s yet so few 1s, 2s, or 3s (outside of hentai mangas, which is most likely the result of bashing).

I identify most with the "Most series are average, so most series get a 5" option. Most of the series I read I rated between 3 and 7. Less than 3 means it was really bad and more than 6~7 means it was above average at least.
While rating I try to make a compromise between how much I liked it and how good it was in more a technical sense, like the quality of the storyline and of the drawings.
Even though I joined in 2008, I restarted my lists with only only the manga I've read since 2012 July!

I read mostly yaoi and a lot of them are wayyy too overrated, so I tend to rate negatively when I feel that a manga doesn't deserve its high ratings.

I don't know if I should have voted the third option instead of the second, but to me average is 6, not five, so I guess I give good ratings?
I adopt a scientific method about rating: I rate separately five aspects of the manga, which are plot, characters, characters development, ending (only for completed manga), and art. Then I do the arithmetic mean.
Of course it's still a lot subjective, but this way the rate is probably more meaningful.

Fullmetal Alchemist
Pandora Hearts

Agreed and that's why I didn't bothered to vote.
