I was raised without a religion because my parents wanted to give me the choice to make my own beliefs and decide for myself if I wanted to follow a religion or not. In that sense, I was very lucky 🙂

However, even at this point in my life, I do not believe myself to be a devout follower of any religion in particular. I accept that everyone has opinions of their own and go about my life just like anyone else. So far it has not affected me negatively in any way, and the idea of not having a religion is increasing in popularity.

I admit it was weird in high school when we had to read a book (I don't remember what), but my teacher kept saying things like "omg so many references to Jesus!!" and pointing out many excerpts which had relevance to Christianity, the cross, etc etc, and I was just very confused. I have never been to church in my life and had very little knowledge of Christianity. I don't pride myself in not knowing these things, and I think if one wants to argue religion there is a lot one must understand. I simply have no interest in pursuing further knowledge on those topics.

Even so, in many ways I consider myself an existentialist, but that is not a religion. However, it can be applied to religions.

I don't believe in god , although there is probably no one in the world that wishes that god and the after life existed more than me.

I am that laid-back, open-minded, easy-going atheist that's loves a good debate type of guy

@eblees: You don't need to believe in god to believe in the after life. In Buddism, you can get reborn into the world after you die. Or ascending into Nirvana with the Budda if you are enlightened enough. Or become one of the saints/sages of the world if you believe in the Chinese's gods.

Im Atheist, just doesn't make sense to me. I mean yep I was raised a lot like astur, growing up with no religion and my family isn't really religiouse. My mom is a "dont know,.don't care" person, dad is a "sure whatever" person. One bro is a."sure hes real "and the other is atheist With me so we are pretty much a mixed family. But its not like I'm a hater or anything, ill give respect to Christians/religious people,I don't go burning down churches/ mosk. But its extreeemly annoying when people try to convince me God is real with crap like" you cant see god ,so hes not real then I guess air,your heart and brain ,love ,hate isn't real then too ,right" stuff like that gets on my nerves. I rather believe in evolution.

I'm a Christian, i was born in a country where that is the standard religion and i like it. I don't go to the crunch often but i want to think that god is with me. In the other hand i believe in science and evolution. I like to think that there is a balance for this two.

you have no idea how much i wish i can see the evidence that proves what you say or what any believer in the after life preaches. but frankly all i can see is 80 or so years of life then death then being slowly erased from people's memories until there is virtually no evidence of my existence. so until we figure out who is right, lets just hope I'm wrong.

That's the thing about religion it gives you false hope blind faith which I find stupid I mean some people respect the churches that's the part that get's to me the most I mean religions and money were and are two of the three main causes of war I mean people are willing too kill each other like George Carlin once joked about you believe in my god I reply no BAM i'm dead he goes on to the next guy same question he replies yes how about my god? No BLAM his dead too History and Science throw so many facts at you it's hard to believe in some ancient 2000yr old sand desert book has all the answers I mean all religions are stupid.
But man did they do one thing great they are able to scam people out of billions of dollars each year no wonder why you see a church it's nicer then all the buildings in that town.

Agnostic. I have come to realise that a belief in or of a god would make as little difference to my lifestyle as believing that there is no god so I don't really care anymore. I just want to get on with my life ^^

I see a lot of people talking about "believing" in evolution. I like Mr. Darwin, read the book.

It really amazes me the fact that many think science=evolution. If you study, you will realize that the theory of evolution has a lot of cracks and that the evolutionists themselves have become a religion. I don't understand how they still teach it at schools as an absolute truth. And Darwin wasn't as proud as that, IT'S A THEORY, he was very clear about that.

Regarding religion... it sucks. Because, well, as everything else people are involved and we aren't holy, so nothing we do can be.

I recomend reading "The Screwtape Letters" by CS Lewis. I believe as he does.

so. so what if there is no afterlife?no human can say anything about the afterlife since no one came ever back to tell us about it(jesus doesn't count since you have to "believe" it without proof).

if you like mr. darwin you should read mr. dawkins too.then you will see that evolution is actually a proven fact.with a lot of prove.
a scientific theory is only allowed to call itself thus if it is proven

1. Darwin's observations are not the most recent or solid evidence in favor of the theory of evolution. Over a century of scientific experiments back up the theory.
2. A scientific theory is the most concrete/definite stage of an idea that covers the scope of the theory of evolution. It isn't suddenly going to 'level up' into something more solid someday. It will just continue to accumulate bits of evidence unless dis-proven.
3. The only reason so much heat is thrown at evolution (compared to other scientific theories) is because it strips away yet another nonsense claim made by certain religions (a magic man 'poof'ed everything into existence all at once).
