Mentally Scarring Manga

Introduction
Originally I was going to post this in the "Looking for" forum, but after considering it I felt it would be better posted here as I'm not sure how old (or rather how young) the people who may visit these forums are. Of course to be frank seeing something that said "18+" online never stopped me when I was younger.
What I want
Now, to get back on topic, what I am asking for is mentally scarring manga. Obviously people's opinions differ, so what you may find to be scarring I may not. So I am asking for two things from you.
- Manga that you find scarring
- What you consider mentally scarring (what effect it should have)
- Manga you think I might find scarring
Things I've read
To help aid you in finding things I might find scarring I'll try to include a general list of the types of things I've read.. Please excuse my poor wording as I have a poor memory, especially with names of people, places, ideas, terms, and the such.. So I wouldn't be able to remember the correct terms unless I purposely wrote it down and went over it hourly for a few months.
Gore, gore in sexually oriented manga, rape, monster rape, tentacle rape, vore, scat and urine play, hardcore yaoi & yuri, unnatural stretching and penetration of various places, rape by animals, robots, vegetables & other foods, hardcore s&m play, and.. Er.. Well, there's probably a lot more.. I'm pretty sure I've read manga/hentai for any and every sexual fetish, and also really weird surreal and trippy manga. I've read realistic manga with cannibalism also and psychological survival manga.
Why I'm asking
Now here's why I'm asking for it.. To be frank I don't quite understand what people mean by mentally scarring.. Is it suppose to turn me off certain things? Ruin something for me because every time I see it a disturbing image flashes through my mind? Is it suppose to make me feel sick or something? I haven't really encountered any such thing to be honest, so I'm not sure what it is that one considers mentally scarring.
edit
Conclusion
After introducing this thread and explaining what I want I hope you will look at the things I've read and give some suggestions that will satisfy me and the reason why I'm asking for thing. Thank you. Okay, okay.. I'm just joking.. Pretty much I've decided that I'll probably never find anything in anime or manga or reading that will be mentally scarring for myself because to be frank although I can (and often do) grow emotionally attached to characters I'm just too damn lazy and forgetful to do so for long. So I suppose I shall have to give up this quest. u.u''
Lastly, although I asked for it not too many people mentioned what they found mentally scarring or what they considered mentally scarring.. Of course not too many people responded. x]] Oh well..

Thank You
As always, thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you everyone who took the time to answer. I honestly appreciate it. I appear to have no way of showing my sincerity online, and for that I apologize, but I honestly do appreciate this.

I definitely understand your position. I don't have a weak stomach for gore like my friends do so I never saw how guro was so sickening. I finally got it when I read Mai-chan no Nichijou which as the first to make me feel a bit queasy. It's mostly straight guro, with mind games and whatnot. What finally got me was the interaction with
a baby at the end, which was a bit over the top even for a guro... >.>
No conclusion? Tsk, you lose a point.
Anyway, there isn't really gore in it, but even the translator said that Mon Seul 'left a bad taste.' This manga has a great storytelling-style, & is really thought-provoking.

The real problem is that most people use the term "mentally scarred" in a vain manner that vaguely resembles the true meaning of the phrase, all for the sake of being a hipster when describing something they simply don't like, or were somewhat shocked by.
Like people who say "The Ring" has ruined them from the joy of unmarked VHS tapes.
Or for example, I don't care for this image, or this one, or this manga's cunning abortion methods to a full grown baby. But I if I were to say they scarred me, I'm just being silly as I also have nothing emotionally invested in characters, so I'm actually pretty indifferent. Which is all a roundabout way of me saying "you're doing it wrong" if you were ever seeking a mental scar from a title purely because it's a generally disliked genre ala guro.
Not that some people can't be scarred by simple shocking images, but if you've already tried and failed, it's not a matter of not trying hard enough, you're simply not one of those people. And it's hard to generate a scarring shock image in manga, since you know for certain it's not "real". Maybe you should test your shock image aptitude on photo-realistic images or non-fiction images at rotten dot com.
(The images at rotten dot com are real, and they aren't lying when they say they're "The soft white underbelly of the net, eviscerated for all to see: Rotten dot com collects images and information from many sources to present the viewer with a truly unpleasant experience.")
But, for me, this is just a matter of being really grossed out, not scarred. *(And I'm going to hell for this, but I can't help but chuckle at some of the stupidly dry and downright morbid sarcasm in the FAQ section of rotten dot com. To quote:
Quote from rotten.com
Q: Why do you put up a website that are shown perforate people by pistols and shotguns? [disjointed English in an email from Germany]
A: Why do you live in a country that exterminated Jews?
shakes head Oh, man. I've heard of "not caring", but this takes the cake.
Another:
Quote from rotten.com
Q: I can't believe you guys put that one in of the baby. I was at a party last night and we were laughing at all of them and then that came up. My daughter passed away at the age of 20 days of SIDS and that just grossed me out. Please take it off. Thanks, Andrea.
A: Okay, story straight -- you were at a party... laughing at other people's misfortune... and then were reminded of your own. Oh the irony.
...snirk
I-I'M SORRY! I'M SO SORRY! I KNOW, I'M GOING STRAIGHT TO HELL!)*
Anyway, I think it'd be incredibly challenging to gain a true mental scar from reading a fictional piece, and it'd require one to have an insanely deep emotional connection with characters. That's step one no matter how you slice it, since a mental scar is somewhat selfish in the grand scheme of things, and if you can't project yourself onto the protagonist or identify with the characters, your wasting your time.
Or it would require what your reading to open an old scar you already have. Mild example, when I see people dancing in manga (or any medium for that matter), I'll suddenly remember something, and feel like a jackass. It has nothing to do with me dancing, it's just serves as a trigger for a memory since people were dancing at the time. Also, it doesn't happen 100% of the time, either, nor is it any kind of major debilitating trauma. It's really just a strange trick of the brain for me. shrugs
Sorry, no recommendations, but at the same time, is a mental scar something you truly seek? Just sayin' to be careful what you wish for.
[Strange Edit]
I've also been known to clean toilets when I'm drunk. I don't know if this is related to a mental scar, or if it's simply hilarious drunken logic in that I may be hugging that same toilet, and would rather hug it while it's clean, however.
Good times.

I second Badkarma's post. The fact that it is definitely fiction is probably why I don't get grossed out easily, that and the fact that I have seen far worse in real life helps too (I used to visit a site similar to rotten, called That's Phucked which carries a similar extremely heavy gore warning.) I actually used the site to test how strong my stomach for gore was as I had an interest in becoming a medical examiner and a strong stomach is required for that particular job. =)

Badkarma, you certainly do make a good point. Although I feel emotionally attached to characters often I suppose I can just as easily detach from them.. I suppose that's probably why it's difficult for me to be mentally scarred. To be frank I probably detach from my own problems and such also, but that's another story..
I guess I might as well check out some of those images you posted when I can, but being at a public library obviously I can't right now. x]]
Also, don't worry if you're going to hell for laughing at those responses.. Although it's little (actually, I doubt it's any at all) consolation, I'll be joining you there in Hell, and I doubt we're alone.
Finally, I think that's the best drunken logic I've ever heard. As long as you're not using any chemicals to clean those toilets at least, otherwise I might just prefer to be hugging a dirty toilet.

Hm.. Actually that's already been recommended to me, I read it, and I felt completely find also.. Dx And yes, I did think it was a bit twisted, but still I didn't think it was a big deal. Actually I was having lunch when I read that. >.<;

Ah, you're right.. I left out the conclusion.. u.u'' Although, to be honest, I can't really provide a conclusion until I get a decent amount of suggestions as as planned conclusion is whether or not I find anything that I could possibly consider mentally scarring. :3
As for your suggestion, Mon Seul, it really does look quite interesting. MU seems to say it's not completely scanlated, is that inaccurate? Or at least, is the full story translated?

Well, you could just restate the main points of your . . . Post. 😛
As for Mon Seul (have you noticed the 1-rating spam?), I don't know what MangaUpdates is on, but the five scanlated chapters provide the full, primary story (the last one even says 'END'), although there seems to be omake (extra/bonus stories) as well (which are translated). Trust me, though, there is a conclusion (pun not intended).

Okay. It's probably just that there were more omakes which weren't translated or something to that effect. I'll probably get around to it this weekend. ^-^ Also, just for you.. I've edited my post with a conclusion. =)

I've just noticed. Good job: A+
Now the world makes sense again . . .
Lastly, don't worry; I'm sure some time in the future, a necromancer will come describing his horrible experiences to you; keep an eye out for the coming years.

If I met a necromancer who was sharing their horrible experiences with me I'd happily listen and learn from their mistakes, and if they weren't willing to share their knowledge about their art I'd have to torture it out of them.. And should it be impossible for me to do it myself I'd have to force them to obey me through some means.. >.>;;
Or I'd just get them arrested for crimes against humanity, but then what would I do with the rest of my evening? u.u''
